Mercenary

Hello,

So lately my guild has been quite bored of HFC, and we're looking for other things to do.
One guildie suggested to do some RBG's.
Being interested in these, obviously I have to farm some bg's to get some decent PvP gear.
A friend of mine suggested I should use Mercenary mode (being Alliance), to make the queues shorter.
It is actually very interesting and exciting to do bg's from the Horde PoV. And I definitely enjoyed it.

Although now I wonder... I play a Gnome Warlock. And both times I entered a bg as mercenary Horde, I turned into a Goblin.
Is the race completely random, or is it always going to be the same as I am a Gnome?
I mean, it'd be extra fun if it's completely random and I can change into an Orc sometimes, then Undead, then Troll, etc.

So will I always change into Goblin because I'm a Gnome? Or were the two times I entered a BG as a mercenary just extremely coincidental that I turned into Goblin?

The race seems to be preset based on your current race and class. My Night Elf Druid was always turned to a Troll when the Mercenary buff was active.

And that's quite the shame.. Would've been way more exciting to experience PvP from a Horde PoV if the races were randomized.
Goblin is actually one of my least liked Horde races. Would've been fun to sometimes play as an Undead, and then as an Orc.

Seems it's a preset. My human paladin gets turned into a blood elf every time I enter merc mode (Ashran, not RBG) while my worgen druid becomes a troll.

Merc mode is designed to fill population gaps during different times of the day, as soon as you have enough people in queue the merc NPC goes away.

It would have been more 'fun' if merc mode was permanent and queue time is what it is! This way it would address the issue we the players have which is faction win dominance.

You see Alliance day time win rate is dismal and Horde prime time win rate is equally as appalling now allowing permanent merc mode regardless of pollution online would increase queue time dramatically one side or the other and exaggerate win-imbalance during that time of day to near 99% to one or the other. That may sound terrible to a game designer but its a hella of a lot of fun for the player base! At least until all the one handed players go away wich is one way of balancing PvP!

Doesn't make much of a difference, as Goblins are CLEARLY the best race in the entire game. I honestly don't know why would you even want to try something else.

Probably because the Goblin racial isn't as useful. 1% haste and an occasional rocket boost is pretty poor in comparison to WotF, Berserking or Blood Fury.

Would be nice if you could actually choose your race but then part of me would prefer it to choose the least chosen races so people in Ashran are more likely to get Pandaren and Goblin kills.
