'Thousands killed' by Russian airstrikes in Syria

    http://www.itv.com/news/update/2016-...ikes-in-syria/

At least 3,000 people - including 893 members of so-called Islamic State - have been killed by Russian airstrikes in Syria since they began in the end of September, a monitoring group has claimed.

The figures came after British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said hundreds of civilians had died in the bombing raids, adding that he was "increasingly disturbed" by Russia's intervention in the war-torn country.
This is why I was against airstrikes - 2106 civilians killed for 893 alleged IS supporters doesn't sound good

I think everyone is against air strikes, except the people that manufacture and sell bombs and missiles.

They aren't useful at all in a "war" like this.

    Source?

"The United Kingdom-based SOHR is run out of a two-bedroom terraced home in Coventry by Rami Abdulrahman..."

It doesn't appear to be more than one bloke trying to make himself sound important.

So the UK Defence Secretary thinks that killing ~2 civilians for every insurgent is a bad ratio? that's better than the 3:1 ratio the US lead coalition had in Iraq XD

British arms companies have cashed-in on Saudi Arabia’s military campaign in Yemen by ramping up arms sales to the country’s autocratic government by over a hundred times, new figures show.

Sales of British bombs and missiles to the Saudi Arabia surged to over £1bn just three months last year, according to an official record of arms export licences quietly released by the Government this week.

The sales, up from just £9m in the preceding three-month period, have occurred while the oil-rich autocracy conducts a military campaign in its neighbour’s territory, where the United Nations has said a “humanitarian catastrophe” is unfolding

How about you stop your government from selling bombs that kill civilians before you point the finger? How about that?

To give some perspective, 30% is among "the best" civilian casualty ratios in recent military history. No major campaigns in recent history can touch that.

Russia's is even better, Iraq was roughly 24%.

You do know that people can criticise both, don't you?

It's Russians killing Sunnis, nobody cares. If Americans were doing the same, these forums would be full of American flames.

That's odd, because I've seen plenty of UK bashing in threads...a lot of it by you, funnily enough.

We even had one poster who complained about people bashing the US and others being obsessed by the US, but creates threads about Canada and bashes the UK, because irony is apparently lost on some people.

It justifies calling out a public figure who believes someone else should be held to a standard that they themselves can't even meet.

Hint. Take everything that comes out from there carefully. We're in the middle of a media war.

Every War has casualties. Look, what else would you suggest to do with ISIS? Cut as much of their financial sources as possible is the only way I can see hindering their organization, but wait, Saudies (and others) will sponsor them regardless.
