    Monitor Help

Looking to upgrade to a new monitor, I am looking at 1440p but there are so many out there varying big time in cost. If anyone has any good ones they recommend that be great. I am in Canada btw if that matters.

I have the asus pg278q (144hz) (tn panel) and its great!!! Theres also the pq279q (165hz)which is the same monitor but a ips panel. Both have the same spec but the ips version is a bit more expensive but with more clairity and better viewing angles. Both are 1440p monitors.

Mmm, I'd go with BenQ GW2765HT or Dell U2515H honestly.

I just grabbed an ASUS PB258Q, and im very satisfied with it. Got it for ~249$ US around Christmas, but it's still sitting at ~279$-300$ US most places (MSRP is ~375-400).

uses the exact same panel as the Dell U2515H (which i did not know when i bought it, but found out recently).

I dont use it for gaming (its on my daily driver) but its been a real champ so far.

Ive noticed these are all 60hz? No good 144hz out there or they just crazy expensive

1440p is already a segment that doesn't get high production runs (it is largely being "skipped" for 4k), so adding 144hz to that just increases the price.

You also have to take into consideration what the horsepower required to do 144hz @ 1440p would be. You're talking about increasing the pixels being pushed around being increased by almost 80% AND trying to more than double your framerate at the same time.

You'd need a 980Ti or Fury X to make it work.

Price and QA of current ones really aren't good. Also you're not getting 2560x1440@144Hz with maxed out settings for newer games with just a single 980Ti. You're pushing a higher bandwidth than a 3840x2160 monitor with one of them.

So going with an IPS 1440p 60hz is the sweet spot then?
