Don't want to drive into the ATM at the store, just want to go over there. Easily done in any of the cars I've driven because I already know where I want to go, there is no other entity to transmit the information to.

This entire 'autonomous vehicles' mumbo jumbo is nothing but marketing garbage designed to make the brand appear futuristic and somehow ahead of the curve. The auto pilot that the new Mercedes E class (which is more advanced than the Tesla Model S) is just a tiny advancement from the already pre-existing distronic plus systems that monitor distance to the car ahead of you, and lane assist, etc. Fifteen years from now everyone will still be driving their cars just like today. Sure you will be able to put your car on 'cruise mode' on highways, but you can do that today too.

Fifteen years from now everyone will still be driving their cars just like today. Sure you will be able to put your car on 'cruise mode' on highways, but you can do that today too.

That makes much more sense - adding accident avoidance and smart auto-navigation functions seems about the limit of what is really possible for the forseeable future.

Maybe taxis could be fully auto-drive, but that's because you always go from A to B pretty much without variation. The personal vehicle needs more flexibility than is on offer.

Set the destination when you first get into the car and let it do it's thing while you do your makeup or eat and then as soon as you touch the pedals or turn the steering wheel you take manual control of the car and it's no longer controlling everything. Seems simple enough to me.

Volvo claims it meant the film. The car replicated the look and feel of vehicle in death proof and was not actually "death proof" just death resistant.
