Insulting people is about the best thing you can do to make them NOT lose weight.
That, and most people don't even keep weight off, even if they "just stop eating and being fattys", people gain things back because diets just DON'T work properly. some can find success, but many do not, that's why there's still constant research on obesity and how to combat, control, and hopefully find a way for people to keep it off.
We shouldn't encourage people to be fat or keep being fat, but we defiantly shouldn't insult them and show lack of respect and human decency.
And some proper education on HOW to lose weight, and what is actually in people's foods would help. Everyone is so tricked by "No sugar! low fat!" yet will still consume thousands of calories and think they are eating just healthy. Or they have a salad, but don't realize that the dressing has 40 calories per tablespoon.
Just yelling at people "go to the gym you awful person" will get nothing done.

Actually, you should mind your own business.
Someone's obesity is for them and their doctor to discuss. You don't know their health issues and you don't know what is going on in their life, or if they are already moving forward in treatment.
If it's such a health epidemic, then treat it as one - stay out of it unless you're the persons doctor.
It's like bugging someone "hey man that rash looks disgusting you should but some cortozone on it. C'mon you lazy bum"
Chip in and do WHAT exactly? Constantly barraging these people, telling them they need to lose weight is not helping. For most it is their choice. When you try to make people choose what you think they should choose you immediately lose any moral high ground. "But it's healthier to be fit!" That doesn't matter when it's FORCED on them.
Most diets these days - low carb, crash diets, fasting etc, will let you loose weight. they are HELLA hard and people don't seem to understand the amount of willpower and "failings" people will have. But after a person loses this weight, its VERY easy to gain it back, even if you eat healthily. It's a CONSTANT management of every calorie, and some people just don't have the time or power to keep up with it.
Again, not saying we shouldn't try, or people shouldn't try diets, but thinking that it's some magical solution and that it'll magically cure everyone for life is completely false.
And again, we just need more REAL education on healthy eating, knowing the calories in foods, and how to get a balanced diet that isn't influenced by the US gov.
I'm curious how you'd force them to change, because "we must intervene" seems to think you can force them to change. Certainly insulting them over and over doesnt work, when many people eat away their negative emotions.
I think its okay to judge someone based on how they CHOOSE to live their lives especially when its destructive to others around them (aka their family, friends and kids).
Being fat is all a choice. Its disgusting. Its unhealthy. It increases healthcare costs. It negatively affects our society, and when kids see their parents choosing to live this way, it affects the way they view life and how they behave as well, which is wrong.
Any health epidemic, there are hundreds. Look up health concerns, I'm not doing the leg work for you.
Medication, physical impairment, low income (cheap food w/ lots of calories. Healthy food is not cheap, and takes time to prepare that people with 3 jobs won't have), improper education on health, mental illnesses, eating disordersHow many people actually have a legit reason ?
And again, who cares what the reason is? Some people just end up fat, that gives you no right to get into their business.
My mother is one seeing as she has degenerative disc disease. She has 3 titanium discs in her spin along with titanium rods and several other discs that haven't been operated on. She is unable to exercise and doesn't eat too much but is still over weight. She is forced to ride a scooter when going out for long periods of time. She's also 48.
So you see her, a 48 year old obese woman, riding through the store on her scooter. What do you do to "save her" from her weight? How the hell do you "help?"
Okay? Fat guys have negative stigma they have to get over as well. And short males have it worse of anyone, and they can't even change that as opposed to a fat person.
You're getting exactly what you deserve.
