Not surprising. I've seen the same happen in Rift; world first guilds one after another throw in the towel as the game and the race themselves become irrelevant. Sad state of affairs for raiding as a whole.

Was bound to happen sooner or later. Trying to get 25 people from the same relatively small country interested in pushing world firsts is pretty tough. Legion will definitely be interesting with all of the shifting around that guilds have been doing. Basically none of the top guilds from WoD are still under the same leadership/structure that they were at the start of the expansion.

The same reason why people are sports fans but never do sports themselves, or only do local. These teams have big PR-value for Blizzard, and are to some players the sole reason they came back to play.
Losing them really does hurt raiding as a whole. Especially if no teams are willing to pick up where they left off - which is the current trend.

So a forced 20man "hardcore" mode not only kills smaller old 10man communities but the top guilds too.

Very sad indeed. Paragon always made the best kill videos, by far. From the dramatic, epic Lich King video to the funny Nefarian video with the cat sounds.
