What do you think of diversity?

What do you think of diversity? In Disney's Star vs. the Forces of Evil cartoon the head cheerleader character is a snobby rich Asian girl. In pop culture cheerleading captains are blonde most of the time. I have no problem with this. I find women of all ethnicities attractive.

Diversity is fine in cartoons, and in real life too. I wouldn't want to go to a school that's 90% black or 90% white or Asian, but rather evenly mixed. While it shouldn't technically matter, it always seems to.

Diversity has turned into a distraction that takes the focus away from dealing with real issues of economics and power dynamics. It's why Hillary Clinton can beat Bernie Sanders through pandering to diversity, and it has poisoned much of the left.

Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed - nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity - too bad for you -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Why do you even care, Shepard? You want to bang every chick anyway.

Naturally occurring diversity is a grand thing.

Diversity through threat or legislation is straight garbage.

The heart of the matter, in the very first post!

Diversity has become a political and social weapon rather than something that just happens. The same with feminism's claim of wanting equality. The cause was turned into a weapon, and so it isn't really about the original thing anymore. Just a way for extremists to bash other people over the head with their stupid opinions.

It's alright. Doesn't really occupy a lot of my time or thought unless it's something weirdly racist.

I can't really think of a real life situation in which I thought there was too much or too little diversity. There are at least, at least, families of twelve different ethnicity on my block alone. Currently.

And I have never lived anywhere in which it was not so; Miami, Chicago, New York, London, San Francisco and Los Angeles. There was no way to not get a little Spanish, Yiddish, Korean and/or Arabic just walking to the train stop.

I feel the concern outside of media representation is absurd to be honest.

Diversity is fine. It's great, even.

It's just assbackward and stupid when activists try to change established characters with backstories/ect into a random "diversity" for the sake of diversity.

New characters who are badass are far more awesome than, for example, randomly making Peter Parker a gay trans MtF woman.

    This.

Let people create their own art, bitchin about it is retarded, especially since its almost exclusively towards western media. You dont see people bitching at manga/anime to have more white people in it. Well, perhaps in some dark corners of tumblr.

I don't know, depends if its forced for the sake of not being accused of racism. I mean having a asian cheerleader, so what why should an asian girl not be able to be a cheerleader? Sure it may not fit the mold as cheerleaders are traditionally portrayed as being blonde but who the fuck cares?

Diversity is fine unless it is forced by a bunch of SJW's.

Its fine when its there, its fine when its not.
Its not an issue and should never be.

It doesn't matter if I work with 100 white guys or 100 black guys or a mix of the 2 it just does not matter.

But its the Hippy SJW thing to bitch and complain about, so whatevers.

Diversity doesn't work.......witness the rise of the "safe space" concept and self segregation.
Me thinks Chromie has a whole lot of splaining to do!

To be its neutral, its irrelevant for the most part. Why do you think its "great'?
Doesnt bother me if i have any sort of representation in media or not.
