It's about time for him but as a side note I am glad spotlight won best picture because it was so much better per the whole package than revenant.

Edward Norton should have won an Oscar for his role in this movie, surely?

It's been a looong time since I watched it last. I remember thinking "Woah!" at the time though.

Yup. Both films' stories were shit and nice visuals don't balance that out.

I love it when people say something is overrated, basically you are saying I don't like something when everyone else does. It's not an argument or even a critique.

Congrats to Leo anyway, had some amazing roles in the past few years.

You do realise that the action films of the 70s and 80s were pretty stupid as well?

Good that he got one, though he did have roles in other films that deserved it more. Gangs of New York and The Departed come to mind.

You should double check that again, because you're calling films like the Indian Jones trilogy, Die Hard, Empire Strikes Back and the original (and only good) Mad Max films stupid.

Millennial age...rofl, thanks for that, it actually made my day.

And ahhh, the truth comes out. Its fun to hate on movies just cuz they are new, isnt it?

In every generation for every great movie there are even more terrible movies. For the 70s for every Star Wars there was a Zardoz. So get off your generational high horses.

    How dare you insult Zardoz!!!

Never cared for movie awards as I don't judge movies or the participants in them by what/how many awards they've won so this isn't a big deal to me. I liked him in Gangs of New York, can't remember anything else I've seen that was really to my liking.

Gary Oldman is such a man of many characters too. My god, that alone should warrant something. I mean you have the villain in Fifth Element, Commissioner Gordon, Sirius Black, and Dracula.

Yeah, it's basically saying that the majority of people are WRONG about something that's entirely personal taste.

Wow, I didn't realize the 5th element bad guy was also Commissioner Gordon and Sirius Black. I always love when I find out that an actor has played a bunch of roles and I never knew it was the same guy. Really says something about their acting.

Cannot disagree more, while it is slow story wise, to work that went into crafting it is amazing. Is is supremely shot, directed, acted and scored.

It is a master piece of film.

I dont know, There was not a lot of dialogue he had to act alone for a lot of the film, I think it was a great performance. But I do agree he has done better before. Gilbert Grape comes to mind.

Guy deserved a statue, he has been performing at the peak of the craft for like 20 years now.
