Better take down every painting of our founding fathers because they also owned slaves. Better redesign our nations flag because it's original design was created when slavery was legal. Better rewrite our national anthem because the writer owned slaves and was an anti-abolitionist. The list goes on and on.

Just because history isn't as white as you want it doesn't mean you should wash it clean.

If it weren't for slavery, the NBA and NFL would be borrrrrring.

Yeah better yet.. blacks enslaved POWs or sold them into slavery. Jews basically facilitated it all setting up a one stop shop for slaves on the coast. Also lets forget about the blacks and muslims that enslaved white christians long before any of this. Slavery is a white only problem.

History is history. Both in the sense that it's behind us and we shouldn't sweat it too much and that it's not going anywhere just because we try to scrub it away.

Honestly I'd put this in the same boat as people trying to whitewash history class to gloss over things like slavery. It happened, it's not happening anymore.

This is one of those situations where I believe it's incredibly important to precisely remember and publicly make known what happened in the past so that lessons can be learned and the same mistakes are not made in future generations.

As Bill Burr said "send a select group of guys to the gym for hundreds or years and of course they are going to be amazing at sports."

A committee at Harvard Law School—formed by dean Martha L. Minow after racially-charged vandalism appeared on the portraits of black law professors last fall
Just to clarify, this was a blatant hoax. As reported by the New York Times:
In a twist, the black tape used on the portraits had apparently been used in an earlier protest, which sought to have the law school change its seal.
    What a coincidence, that.
