So, what do you think of this? Good or bad? Do you think others will follow suit?CHICAGO — The City Council voted Tuesday to raise Chicago’s smoking age from 18 to 21.
Cities such as New York, Boston, Cleveland, Kansas City and Evanston already have similar ordinances in place.
The aldermen also outlawed discounts, slapped a $6 million tax on tobacco products and banned chew altogether at professional and amateur sporting events, including baseball stadiums.
Chicago is now fourth big league city with a smokeless tobacco ban, joining San Francisco, Boston and Los Angeles.
New York and Toronto have legislation pending.
Honestly, I think its a dumb idea. I don't really like smokers too much in public areas, but this law has no authority or real power since they can just go somewhere else and purchase them.
