Question Socket(+75 mastery) Vs 20 Int

    Quick Question:
I have mythic warforged [Oppressor's Merciless Treads] with stats:
    369 Int ; 554 Stam ; 183 Crit ; 309 Haste

I also got a regular Mythic [Oppressor's Merciless Treads] with a socket with stats:
    349 Int ; 524 Stam ; 173 Crit ; 292 Haste and 75 Mastery gem

I wasnt sure if the socket one was better than the warforged one.

I would say socket, and typically on low budget items, socket is indeed better than warforged (in any case the difference should be small given that you have 75 mastery vs 20 Int, 10 crit and 17 haste). If you want to be really sure, you'll have to sim it.

Shoulders is on the same budget as boots and gloves I believe.

As for the chest/legs/helm it was true pre-6.2 but I believe the thing changed a bit with the 75 gems, to where it now depends on the specific stats etc. Not as much for boomkin though, speaking in a more general sense.

Fair enough. Helm chest legs and shoulders all have large chunks of mastery on them tho with gloves being our off piece. Me personally, I'd take socket on everything else, wf on those pieces + weapon/trinks.

    Mythic 2/2 upgraded tier chest
    +444 Intellect
    +372 Haste
    +220 Mastery

Mythic WF 2/2 upgraded tier chest
    +470 Intellect
    +393 Haste
    +232 Mastery

    -23 int -21 haste -12 mastery vs 75 haste.
    -23 int -12 mastery vs 54 haste.

Intellect needs to be almost twice better than Haste in order for WF to be better than socket. Thus, the socketed version is better and it's not even close. And that's our item with the best stat budget and stat amount. The difference in favor of socket is even bigger for tier headpiece and legs since they are itemized much worse than chest.

Always pick WF for weapons or trinkets and always pick socket for everything else as a Resto Druid in HFC (assuming 75 haste gem). The math is really simple.

I think he was talking about Moonkin, because of +75 "Mastery"
But i think your math applies here pretty much the same.

You would compare Headpiece as your best option.

    M2/2 Tier Head
    444 Int
    232 Crit
    359 Mastery

    M 2/2 Wf Tier Head

    470 Int
    246 Crit
    380 Mastery

    -23 Int -14 crit -21 Mastery vs. 75 Mastery
    -23 Int -14 crit vs. 54 Mastery

Still nearly the same conclusion than you. AskMrRobot puts Int:Mastery at 1:0,75. I Dont think they are that way off.
--> Always Socket over WF, exept weapons and trinkets

Hope i dint make any stupid mistakes^^
