Why did Grom suddenly become a good guy

Didn't he want to invade Azeroth? We killed Blackhand, Kargath, Garrosh, and many more of his soldiers. Then after Blackhand dies, Gul'dan gets tired of his bullshit and roflpwns him and sprays Tanaan with his green juice and takes Grom prisoner. Cue Hellfire Citadel raid. Okay, I guess I can kind of understand the events here. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, so he teams up with us to kill Archimonde and defeat Gul'dan. But... After that, it seems like he forgot all about his plans for conquest. He's cheering with us and acting like we're the best of buds. After Archimonde dies, why doesn't he go back to his original plan and end our temporary truce? What made him change his mind?

Basically what Soulwind said. The lore was pretty much slapped together, especially by the end.

Because the writers felt like it.

Same reason Garrosh suddenly became a bad guy.

He was never really good or bad, just extremely easy to manipulate one way or the other. This has been true since he first drank the demon blood in MU.

It took 2 expansions for him to really become evil. That's faster than a complete reversal in character in one patch.

And yet he was resisting Gul'dan for so long.

It really was just terrible writing. They could have just had him slink off with Durotan yelling it instead. :/

But no, Grom was awesome so yay Grom!

The second time, because of his son. The first time he was totally down with the demon funk.

How was he supposed to go back to his original plan after we defeated his army?

  11. #11
He was supposed to be the final boss of the expansion according Tom Chilton interview, they obviously changed their mind at the last minute.

A hollow and pointless expansion deserves an equally hollow and pointless story.

There was suppose to be stuff about Grom and the rest of the orcs joining up with the Frost Wolves to help fix the damage they did. Apologies, rebuilding the land all that good shit. But people frothed and foamed so much they said fuck it and didn't bother with it. Look that world is doomed, after we leave and start fighting the Legion on Azeroth Sargeras shows up and cleaves Draenor in two killing everything.

Abandonment of any minimal attempt at a semi coherent expansion plot.

If anything he shouldn't have gone back to his original plan but marched off to a prison or even summary execution for his actions.

It looks like the entire point of the expansion was just to bring Gul'dan back...everything else is just looking to be a bi-product which we'll leave in Draenor and likely never return to. I don't really blame Blizzard for that though, people cry like mad when they try introduce a new villain.

He became a good guy becauce they did not want to come up with a way to kill him. and the story they had plannen for him was Cut short.

They killed every other interesting Orc Warlord in such poinless ways they had to come up with some non-specific reason to keep one alive.
