I'll start with my country: the Netherlands / Holland.

- We don't have any tanks anymore, we've sold them all. We do however have tank crews, that have to borrow tanks from Germany to practice once in a while.
- Our soldiers have rifles, but hardly any bullets. It got to the point where they are instructed to yell "BANG BANG" when practicing in the field or with allies.
- Over half of our current armor vehicles doesn't work. Some reports starte that at certain bases, they have to dismantle 4 vehicles for their parts to keep a single vehicle running.

Who can top this?

Still, Netherlands(together with Norway) has one of the worlds best Communications troops. Netherlands and Norway was the ones responisble for almost the entire communcations infrastructure for NATO in the Middle-East.

I nominate Sweden. We can't even put together a single division these days. Used to have 20(sic) during the cold war era. We'd be better of using Finland, Denmark and Norway for ground troops and focusing only on supplying air and naval forces.

From whom do we need protection? Having less weapons and less influence of warmongers in politics is the best way to avoid a repeat of WW1 and WW2. Europe doesn't need to be armed. The age of colonies is long over.

- I heard about the tanks, but I thought that was partly reversed?
- We have one of the best trained specialised forces, how can't we have enough money for bullets or does all the money go to them?
- I know the budget has been lowered several times before MH17 happened but The military does quite a bit of high production value promotions includingfor skilled engineers. Or is most of the money going to employing and keeping a large staff and less about the equipment?

No wait, the best part was when they dismantled so many batallions they discovered they had more senior officers than actual soldiers.
No wait, the best part was when they sold that brand new super secret submarine base to the very Russians they wanted to keep it a secret from.

No wait, the best part was 15 years ago, when we wanted to buy new fighter jets, and ended up being strongarmed into buying american jets, and the cost keeps going up so much that the only way to keep the military going is to apply cost cutting measures resulting in the previous anecdotes.

Most modern conflicts are decided by home advantage. Ridiculous US military expenditure hasn't done shit in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Any one who is depending on the US for their national security is insane. They never do anything that isn't in their own interest.

EU isn't that weak. I still believe it's still stronger combined than rusia.
Also france got a few spare battleships that it wont deliver to rusia anymore, although knowing politics they probably went ahead with the trade after thigns calmed down in the media.

America's budget is absurdely high, I do find that the eu is profiting of it without charge, which is a bit questionable. But america also wants to be the world police.
The exception is the irak war though, EU is now paying a lot for it with all the immigrants coming .
Often EU is their in the afte math, they seem to be better peacekeepers than american military so thats where EU resources go into.
