In another interview (I originally saw this on the news on tv) the lady owning the cat said the cat didn't sit for more than 15 minutes for her make-up session at any time, so most of these are the result of 15 minutes of make-up at most.

The clothes thing is already bad enough, but the makeup/eyelashes can't be good for the animal.
As much as I disagree with the practice, at least a child can have some understanding of how to deal with the makeup or clothing.
