So much for that 5th amendment that folks were touting during the Apple - FBI fiasco.
So much for that 5th amendment that folks were touting during the Apple - FBI fiasco.
While related, the 5th amendment wouldn't have applied in that case, as the Supreme Court has not recognized fifth amendment rights for corporations. It was more of an issue of the rights of corporations to not be compelled to create backdoors into their software for the purpose of investigation by the government.
I am pretty sure this question has been answered. Viewing Child Pornography is different than possessing child porn.
You could easily view child porn by accident, but if you save it, and are in possession of it, able to bring it up and view whenever, then it is a crime.
For instance, anyone could upload Child Porn onto MMO-C and it would stay up until a moderator took it down. The images could be viewed by a great many people, who though viewed child porn, didn't do so with intent.
So in your idea you should comply to ANY request just to prove you're innocent?
Ridiculous.
Those accusing you are the ones who need to justify their actions.
That's why undercover exists.
That's why all sorts of investigations exist.
Just going "Hmm I think you're guilty -> Jail -> Now I'm entitled to go through all your private stuff." is not acceptable.

Why did you create a new thread? Use the search function and post in existing threads!
Why did you necro a thread?
Meanwhile at Nintendo land, Splatoon is totally not child softcore porn.
You're now on the FBI watchlist for necroing a 3 month old thread about child porn.
Yeah, this thread is a bit too old, and about a case that's just as old.
Gonna close this here, please check the dates of posts before responding to a thread in case of accidental necromancy.
