I wonder if a unique take on Gul'dan could be a support/damage dealer sort of in the same vein as Tyrande, as opposed to just another burst mage. He tosses demon blood on allies to give them strange and unique demonic buffs, and also has a few debilitating/damaging debuffs for enemies.

Given that destro warlocks will be a burst spec, i think having guldan as affliction will be interesting. A debuff and heavy dot assassin would be neat.
Look I know, but having a Gul'dan as a Destruction Warlock would be visually similar to Kael'thas. The only proper difference being fire colour honestly, even in WoW the specs are very similar. Given Illidan novel spoilers, it said Kael'thas was already serving Kil'jaeden in Tempest Keep and attacked Shattarah City against Illidan's will. Which basically means he was already corrupted by power and thus we could say he became Warlock sooner than in Sunwell. Still he was a Blood Mage, which already is a Mage/Warlock hybrid. In WC3 he had Mana Drain and Banish, which later became Warlock spells in WoW.

Also considering how Destruction is about nukes, I am afraid a Destruction Warlock might end up mechanically similar to Li-Ming. Then the only core Destruction mechanic is Immolate + Conflagrate interaction, which both have no projectile in WoW and might be absurdly stupid to have on click nukes. Now in Legion they are adding even more RNG to Destruction to highlight the chaotic nature, which would be horrible for this game.

I personally would love if Affliction Warlock had no mana and his spells cost health instead with Soul Shards being a secondary resource. His trait being Siphon Life - healed for % of damage done. Which would highlight the corrupting nature of Warlocks and their major difference to Mages, their self-sustain. I also think they could introduce Fear as a new CC mechanic, moving targets away from caster and breaking after certain damage threshold.

Please no, Gul'dan was always selfish character.

He never gave a damn about the entire Horde, he exchanged their fates for his own personal gain. He even tried to betray Legion when he went to seek Sargeras' power in Tomb, even in WoD there was a hint of him betraying Legion again with "Gul'dan, you made the pact!". I doubt there is more selfish character in entire Warcraft universe than him. It would make very little sense for Gul'dan to be a support.

I imagine some more WoW heroes because the movie is in June. Probably Gul'Dan.

What we don't need: More OW heroes until the game freaking releases already.

What we do need: At least 2 real tanks. At least 3 new and unique supports. Major lore figures from WoW like Velen, Gul'dan, Varian, Anduin etc.

Gul'dan was confirmed at Blizzcon and is expected to arrive around Legion's release.

I would love to see Mercy but, sadly, I do not see how they could bring in someone like her since Morales is so incredibly similar

We'll probably start seeing Legion tie in heroes. Gul'dan is my wishlist hero though and i would love if he was affliction.

I would be truly surprised if we saw Gul'dan until shortly before Legion's release.

Varian needs to be one of those real tanks, releasing him as a bruiser would be one of my biggest disappointments in this game.

I'm hoping that Widowmaker cameo was a not so subtle teaser of the next hero.

Considering that it was Nova turning into WM the easy money is on it being a skin with voice overs. The only thing they could do is make another kind of sniper, one with no stealth and longer range. Since Nova has pony tail and WM does, its probably just going to be a skin.

If WM is only relegated to a Nova skin, it'd be a waste of a great character. Saying "another kind of sniper" is too dismissive when there's three monks, two shaman, and two paladins already in the game. They're just another of the same type/class right? Come on.

If they handle WM's transition into the Nexus with the same integrity they did Tracer's than you're looking at a character who is as different from Nova as Chen is from Kharazim or Uther is from Johanna. I could totally see her being specialist capable of swapping her weapon mode and performance/function in the game. It doesn't even require a healthy bit of imagination, just look at her kit.

There's more than orcs in the movie though, so why would they only release orcs to support it?

    or

    Hogged
I can see the trailer now, several non wow heroes in a Mexican standoff with Thrall, Jaina, and Furion. You hear Hogged distinctive laugh in the distance, and Thrall and company are heading for the hills as fast as they can. Butcher, Diablo and Dhaka are standing there like "uhhh what's going on...?" then he tears through them all with body's flying.

only in terms of beam healing. Thats just one similarity really. otherwise they're quite different. Other heroes share similarities of that level while being functionally different, so we can afford another beam healer.

Infact its far from "incredibly similar" as outside beam healing they dont have any similarities. She can be a high movement healer and shoot between allies in range with her flight ability. Switch between a bonus dps or healing beam. Resurrect.

Thing is if Widow has a toolset that can create enough variation of has a place.

The examples you make, a couple are from an entirely different franchise and the warcraft one's are based on different talent tree's which are very functionally different and it shows for the heroes who are absolutely different from each other.

Now i do want Widow to be her own hero, but if a proper toolset based on her abilities that also fits into the game cant be found then its better not to force it.
