My part in this story has been decided. And I will play it well.
honestly... i think you watch too much TV/movies where you see this kind of thing. it's also more a youth thing.. my wife often grabs my cell when she has a busy day and hers is low on battery etc..
I have nothing to hide. most of the times it's a mix of insecurity and jealousy that causes an issue.. mature adults do not have these.
EDIT: she also uses my facebook to play superbuzzer (as her daily limit runs out fast, she's addicted.) I couldn't care less, I have nothing to hide. if I wouldn't want her to see something on my facebook, I shouldn't be doing/saying that thing.

I have no issue with them looking into text messages or facebook, as long as it isn't anything work related. Considering I'm a nurse and required to have my phone on me to handle things, allowing anyone to view my phone could violate HIPAA.

Glad I'm not the only one.
Not all of us have trust issues.
What I do get fed up of, is when they're on Facebook 24/7. Even when we're out together.
You get fed up with that rather quickly.

You have a long prosperous relationship in front of you my friend.
Its invading privacy, phone is an extention of your mind, its bad form to check others phones.
People who do snoop seem to think that they deserve to know everything, but thats just not true, if your partner has been unfaithful in the past, your fault for staying with them, but if you take them back you ar telling them that you trust them, if they fuck up again thats entirely on you for not addressing the issue at hand and just pretending everything can go back to normal.
as for the content of messages that they may want to hide, its none of your business. Hell i could be coaching a friend through suicidal thoughts that i dont want my partner to read, or talking about personal family issues with my brother, shit that is private and nobody deserves to know or even has the right to question, besides plenty of messages can be taken out of context.
So a big no to snooping from me, just because he has something he wants to keep to himself doesnt mean that hes fucking someone else, if you invade his privacy and over-react to shit chances are he will keep things from you, your fault.
The usual. Nothing too bad. Awkward selfies, dick picks gone wrong - stuff everyone does but doesn't want anyone to see, including girlfriends.
Man or woman, it doesn't matter. It's an unwelcome invasion of privacy. I mean, I don't like people prying into any of my stuff, and I have jack-shit to hide. I just don't like it, it kinda shows how little trust this hypothetical person has in me. If I'm ok with it, I'll let them know it's fine to have a look, but I will not tolerate anyone prying into my stuff without my permission. Likewise, I won't pry into other people's stuff without their permission.
I wouldn't want someone to look through my phone because it is my phone. It has nothing to do with what's on it, it's usually empty anyway. People will make assumptions eitherway, if they don't look in it they will expect something unwanted to be there. If they do look in it they will expect there to be some hidden reason why it's there.
Why are you in a relationship with someone you do not trust?
Checking phones/emails/whatever is literally saying "i do not trust you, i have to verify everything to make sure you are not lying".
If you feel the need to check someone's phone to make sure they are not cheating - it is time to end that relationship and leave them.
If you feel that need in every relationship then you should grow up and possibly seek psychiatric help.
Girls have nothing to do with this.
You either care about privacy or you don't.
sensitive information, private information, security related information....
For instance I have to have encryption on any device I use for work, and have to use multi-factor authentication to even log on with a device away from a secure office computer. If any of my devices were compromised through me letting others use them, I'd be fired. Data protection and all that.
Or otherwise confidential information. If you unlock my phone, you can get to my email, and in my email are private negotiations about some business dealings. Just one example. I've likely already told my gf about the negotiations, but the substance of them is private.
Pretty much, don't want anyone digging into my phone or desktop or laptop.
Because I have an actual backbone and if she doesn't like it, she can make space for the next girl.
You're getting exactly what you deserve.
