We just agree to disagree.. But I am not really surprised either way that you think the way you do. At the end of the day, and after all you live thousands of miles away from the physical incarnation of the "iron curtain". You cannot possibly comprehend how it was, period.

Besides the point is, that per track record the former USSR did and does a lot more towards deescalation. They got rid of more nukes, for the most part stopped the arms race, while said arms race degraded into a one man race with no slowing down.
There are two ways to look at things....... objective and subjective.
Objectively it's the US that needs to slow the hell down, subjectively we don't want those cold war tensions back in Europe. If you miss them, feel free to start them between Alaska and Siberia. Then you can go toe to toe with your favorite bogey man
