    Illegal immigration... help me understand

Why is it that many non-US citizens (and some US) blast the US as racist and intolerant, and other negative things when we only want to protect our borders and enforce the immigration laws we have in place, AND YET, when middle eastern and other immigrants enter other countries, people of those countries outcry and hate that immigration is occurring in their countries?

I guess I just want to understand why is it a deplorable thing that US citizens want to curb illegal immigration (notice how I said "illegal" and not law abiding immigration) but somehow it's okay to not like and detest immigration into other countries?

When trump indicates that he wants to enforce the current immigration laws we have, why is that a racist and bad thing? Wouldn't you want your country to enforce the laws of your land?

    Help me understand.

It's the cool thing to do to hate on the United States. I usually just ignore the people that hate on us in the US

I don't think it is the concept of stopping/regulating illegal immigration that people find stupid, but the whole "BUILD A WALL" method of fixing it.

Because the left not the democrats but the left doesn't want uphold they law. They want to use immigration to destabilize the economy and bog down our courts and systems so they crash. Look it up most illegals in leftist states make anywhere from 25-40 thousand a year off benefits. Immigration is fine when it's done legally. Also look up Bill Clinton on immigration when he was running. You see the left can't stay on the same opinion for more than six months. They do what's cool or trendy and lie to your face so they can push their socialist agenda. I'm sorry to say but they have been lying to you since you were born. Only the right puts their politicians in check and forces them to follow the constitution and laws. The left will do anything for a buck with next to no checks or balances. Hence why the Bernie crowd is so mad at the world because they are so angry about their own parties super delegate system. It's in their rules they let it happen. This would never fly on the right. Good luck in your battle. Be educated keep asking questions and don't for a second let someone without factual data suade you from your educated opinion. Btw nothing's free everything has to be made and earned at some point and government will never ever be able to do that. Look up Bernie sanders wife derails university funding and bankrupts them.

A wall or not go live on the border you might get shot from an illegal crossing over it happens daily when I lived near the border. Again the left doesn't want checks or balances. Enforcing the border means less money they could use to monoplane our laws and currencies.

Chances are that when you hear two contradictory statements, they aren't coming from the same person.

Because the US economy depends on illegal immigration. They tried in some places to crack down on people employing illegal workers, the results were not pretty.

Why do so many Americans think we have open borders and just let people stream through without doing anything about it?

Because illegal immigration isn't the problem ... the problem is why they come here.

Because employment of illegals is also illegal. Targeting the employment of illegals covers all illegals, regardless of origin or means of getting here. Pointing at the border and complaining about Mexicans, doesn't actually solve the issue. There is quite a large population of illegals from Cuba and they have a natural moat that is quite a few miles wide, not just a wall.

When you see people like Trump point at Mexico, the goal isn't to fix illegal immigration problem, but to stir up xenophobia. If you have a mouse infestation, do you just build walls around the cheese or do you move the cheese? Until we do something about the massive employment in agriculture and other industries, people will come for the jobs. Once you start taking away the reason they come, they will stop coming. Couple that with the war on drugs empowering South American drug cartels and it should be clear how futile it is to target individual, instead of the reasons they are breaking the law.

Because people are different, im from Denmark, I think it's great that you guys actually enforce your immigration laws, this shitty thing called the European Union could learn something there, god damn I hope we follow if the British exit goes through.

If I could decide, we would be handling the current muslim invasion like every other invasion has been handled in human history, but then again.. if it keeps up, Europe will have atleast a civil war, then those invaders might not enjoy our welfare as much as they thought they would.

There's 11 million illegal aliens in the US. That's too much. A million would be okay, but 11? No.

Not exactly. U.S. agriculture is the ONLY sector where illigals are worth it. Other sectors can be taken cared off by the native born. Here is the issue, private individual love the illigals, because they are not competing for the same jobs that they are. But those illigals are cheap and can get gob't benefits. Which sucks money out of state but it does not affect the private individuals. This is why Liberals cities like Cali and Sanfrancisco love illigals. While private individuals and businesses get the benefit of cheap labor and consumer, State which represents long term and everyone else, suffers.

I agree. A better statement and concept would be "Lets build Doors!". That way yes people can come and go. But you can always lock or open a door. It gives you control really.

But the LETS BUILD A WALL they took our "jerbs" crowd won't get that.

Pretty sick of people pretending that words inscribed on a French statue, years after it went up, should dictate our immigration policy.

So we need to make their country of origin better so that they do not come here illegally? Are you crazy?

I am sure people are pretty sick of hearing the same old "evil poor brown illegal immigrants from another country are going to destroy the US!" year after year from racist right wingers, yet several decades later LITERALLY nothing has changed.

Because our immigration policies are terrible? A person can't wait several years or rely on probability for green cards. I'm not for allowing illegal immigrants, I'm for altering the immigration laws, processes, and getting these people documented. It solves numerous problems and we frankly have little need to "secure our borders".

The other people are not any worse than our legal citizens and blaming crimes on illegals is simply scapegoating.

This thread is nearly the same topic, was started just minutes later, and has more posts, so I'm going to lock this and redirect discussion there.
