My bit isn't about hate speech. Just the argument private businesses are allowed to block and remove messages they don't like.
So, banning pro-gay or trans messages is perfectly fine and everyone making the argument here will support that business'sright to not endorse the gay lifestyle.

No they are not the same thing. Freedom of speech gives you the right to say w.e you want that doesn't end up having others harm or killed due to your "speech"
Youtube on the other hand has a set of rules and gives you access to thier site with those rules. They can ban you for anything they want since you agreed to the terms.
Um no. Even the author is unsure of what they mean by ideas "Hateful ideas (whatever exactly that might mean)" The government can't tell what you are thinking (yet) and they cannot punish you based on such.
The fact that the distinction is made between speech and ideas in the article bring to light they are not the same thing.

I don't know why you people are arguing the semantics of free speech when YouTube can do whatever the fuck they want on their site with no regard to your right to free speech whatsoever.

Freedom of speech should not and does not extend to hate speech in any civilised country.

tldr
hate speech being an act that targets a group of individuals based on characteristics thought to of been found in that group is not illegal by itself but it can compound the illegality of other acts
namely fighting words actions wherein a a group is led to action by an individuals speech.
