    New PC After 7 Years

I am looking to build a new PC after having my current PC for approx 6-7 yrs. I am mainly concerned with a few of my choices which I will highlight below. I probably wont build again for a while, so I am looking to build a system that will last, but also dont want to spend an arm and a leg to get it. I was hoping not to exceed $1500.

    • CPU: I chose the i7-6700K because I have a 30" Dell monitor that has a resolution of 2560x1600. With the plan to purchase a GTX 1080 or 1070, is this necessary or should I go with the i5-6600k? I have looked around many posts about the i5 being more than sufficient but usually people are referring to 1080p resolution.
    • Case and CPU Cooler: Is there a different case option I should be looking at? And is this cooler compatible/sufficient?
    • PSU: I don't plan on running more than a single GPU, is there a better option or even smaller option I should be looking at?
    • Memory: Is there a better option or faster option? I am assuming this is double channel memory?

    SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold $69

Most of the Cooler Master cases are too plasticky and cheap quality in my opinion. I tend to stick to Fractal Design, Corsair or Phanteks (yes there are other decent case brands).

    Corsair 300R $60
    Phanteks Enthoo Pro $85
    Phanteks Enthoo Pro M $66
Fractal Design Define R5 Blackout Edition $95

    The rest looks good.

Thanks - I will definitelylower the PSU and look into these other cases. I appreciate the input!

Anyone have anything else they notice or want to provide info on ?

As for the CPU, the i5 is plenty fine if all you do is play games and do some random daily tasks and browsing. So if it means the difference between getting the 1070 or 1080 then stick with the i5. The i7 is really nice if you intend on doing anything else, like streaming or other more CPU intensive tasks.
