So, apart from common nicknames (Jennifer - Jen, Sammy - Sam, Joe - Joseph), or "Pet Names" (ew) are there any nicknames that you have?

If so, how did you get them?

Sparkles actually is a nickname I have gotten IRL. It was more popular in my college years, but occasionally it still springs up. I think I got it because early college I would play LAN games with dorm mates and others and always pick characters with pretty particle effects (I think they look good).

Buck on the other hand kind of just happened, and I liked it enough to keep it. One of my buddies now-wife calls me that, which I always found peculiar since she calls him "Doe". I suppose I found it endearing, plus I think of the movie Uncle Buck, which was always a favorite.

When I was younger I ended up with the name Beegus (Bee-GUS) because apparently that's how I addressed the character of "Beagly Beagly" in the old Grape Ape Cartoons.

I created my name in 1996 while dialed into a friends computer via computer to computer phone connection playing a game called: "Command and Conquer Gold". He listed His name as Dacoolest, so I listed mine as Dacoolist (IST meaning the highest of, meaning cooler.. I'm a fing nerd).

Have rocked the name since 96-2016 Sometimes go with Adex or Gill Bates for fun as well, but mostly as dacoolist.

My mom's side of the family has issues pronouncing my IRL name so most of them call me Jay. My name starts with a "V".

I received the nickname 'noodles' in elementary school. I got it when I was 9-10 and I believe it had something to do with a certain noodle monster. I can't really remember what or why and it didn't stick. People who know me better than an acquaintance usually just call me by a shorter version of my name.

I won't go into all the weird pet names my mother gave me and my sister. Things that would roughly translate like 'sugar mouse', 'mouse tuft' and 'pigeon shit'..

I was called poncho by a few people because I wore a huge poncho to school in elementary school and I apparently looked funny. Then some people also called me Cat-tail because it sounded similar to my last name and when I introduced myself I said "I love cats." Not the worst set of nicknames.
