People are too Afraid to Judge Others

People are so afraid of judgement today, yet people cannot survive with judging things. For example, a person may make the judgement call to not walk down a dark lit alley in a bad part of town at night, and that's probably a good judgement. People cannot live without making judgments, so stop trying to fool yourself. Yes, I make judgement about my surroundings, scenarios, people, and groups. Sometimes judgement are wrong and sometimes they are correct, but to not make any judgments at all is to not make any choice in a world that is dependent on making choices.

How about we just judge nothing at all? That way no ones feelings will get hurt but as a consequence almost every action will be seen as permissible. Certain instances of rape, murder, or pedophilia may suddenly become acceptable. That is not a world I want to live it, so I use my judgement as the tool that I have been given. Sometimes it is wrong and sometimes it is right, but it is the best tool that I have.

It's okay to make rational logical judgments even on groups or individuals as long as they are well thought out and not biased.

Certain judgments are still OK. You will always see people being made fun of for being fat, ugly, or even the flip side: being made fun of for being discriminatory in the first place.

Don't fool yourself, the judgement still happens. We've just become less tolerant of talking about it.

Silently judging, so no one judges you for judging, but you still get to judge. Society truly is a complicated place.

Why do you give a shit about others? Live your own damn life.

I'm pretty sure people are not afraid to judge others based on anything you can possibly imagine as long as it doesn't enter dick range. Being a dick is generally not socially acceptable though since most people still hold basic public decorum, at least where I live, when it comes to most things.(There are exceptions depending on the political sphere at the time.)

I find it comes down to virtue signalling more then being a dick. You are allowed to for instance walk on stage and hit a gay man in the face if hes a trump voter.

No they are not afraid of judging others. The world is full of judgment. Especially when it comes to social media. People need to learn to shut the fuck up and stop being so passive/aggressive. That's where judgment comes from. A place of passive/aggressiveness.

But people want to hide. They want to hide their true intent behind judging others in ways like "It's helpful!" or "Murder will become accepted if we don't start judging more!".

Judgment is tearing the US apart right now. People aren't voting for politicians they want. They're voting against the type of people they don't like. And instead of people being reasonable and realizing that the words liberal and conservative mean jack shit, they start hating each other because they're too fucked up over politics to not be raging drama queens.

So don't try to justify you being overly judgmental. If that's how you want to be, that's how you want to be. But don't hide from it.

So you're against hate speech laws? Or do does it all of a sudden matter when it hurts somebodies feelings?

The internet begs to differ. Hell almost every, if not every, thread on this forum contradicts your assertion.

People judge each other and things like, 100% of the time. Everything is a matter of value attribution in so far we (humans) have any control (unlikely) of our actions.

Choosing to go to the movies with Susanna instead of Emily is an assignment of value. You have to judge one thing higher or differently than another to assign and act on value.

I would go as far as to say everybody judges everything everyday. It's the way we are programmed.

The goal should be to judge on merit instead of superficiality; unfortunately the latter is so much easier.
