Yeah, it rushed along to political union way too fast, and it handled both the immigration and recession crisis in horrible way, by pushing issues on those who were in trouble.
Hopefully the EU either dies and something takes it's place, or the EU is reformed and gets better.

I honestly don't know what your position is at this point. What arbitrary percentage of a vote do you think conveys legitimacy?

I don't have one, which is why I never tried to state one. I think you need a mandate though which is more than 1 vote. To know whether the Brexit vote achieved a mandate we need to know how many more people voted for it, currently it's 800,000 or so, if it ends in the millions then then it's easy to say we have a mandate for change.

It's highly unlikely that the UK will be 'irrelevant'. Hopefully other countries will follow the UK and ditch the EU as well and focus on going back to forging positive trade deals between each other which is what the EU was meant to focus on instead of meddling in multiple aspects of our lives.
