Well, JFK gave the Moon speech in 1962, and by 1969 there was a man walking on the surface of the Moon. That was some 50 years ago. I think we can go to Mars in eight years, if there's someone like Elon Musk backing it. I mean, he most likely has more money to put in it than NASA does anyway.
