Because if the welfare leech parents bought vegetables they wouldn't have enough for cigarettes, cable and iphones for dey keeds.

Honestly, all this is just proof more people need to homeschool their kids. The public school system is a sad joke in Ontario, Canada, between the ridiculous SJW curriculum and unqualified teachers.

It's not so bad. The SJW stuff is overhyped because it makes the news and normal stuff doesn't. The teachers and classroom aren't much worse than other western countries. 1-12 is pretty easy anyway. I fucked around (sleeping in class, socializing, etc) in class and just read the textbook the day before tests and ended up with high school grades to get a max university scholarship (despite getting Cs and Ds in middle school as a result of fucking around and disrespecting teachers). Any kid who is a little motivated can learn everything they need with the books that are provided for free.

Out of all the subjects they could be teaching, Canada chose this one... fucking hell.

They should`ve added Logic/Coding classes to the curriculum - I had those starting from 2nd grade in Ukraine. Really fun and really good - no grades but rewarding as hell.

We've been running similar subjects this side of the Ocean for a while.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citize...tion_(subject)

The Council of Europe has a charter on it.
    They've published a recommendation document.

The one we had in Spain was implemented 10 years ago. It originally covered these topics:
The individual, interpersonal and social relationships.
    Life in community.
    Life in society.
    Respectful approximation to diversity.
    Interpersonal relationships and participation.
    Citizen obligations and rights.
Democratic societies in the XXI century.
    Citizenship in a global world.

It was heatedly debated as many people considered it a state propaganda tool all too prone to indoctrination. They proposed a change of curriculum that featured less focus on homophobia, but including the themes of exclusionary nationalism, environmental awareness, noise contamination, and copyright.
It was eventually retired in 2012. But I suspect they'll bring back the topic once and if we get a new government (we're repeating elections in a few weeks, as the ones last November didn't yield any agreement).

its rarely the actual cost that is the issue, more often its time - hence fast food instead cut meat either.

Ah Tennisace, boosting everyone's post count one thread at a time.

Any school board advocating social justice as part of the curriculum is a school board worth kicking out of power or at the very least taking your children very far away from.

It's the other way around in Spain. That new curriculum was proposed by the rightwing successor to the socialist government that implemented the subject.

Exclusionary nationalism refers, essentially, to the Catalonia thing. Which is something that our rightwing party doesn't fancy, as it promotes instability. Leftwing parties are looking very favorably to Catalonia's search for independence. Proposals include extending devolved powers, revising our autonomies statute, a referendum, state restructuring into a federation...
Noise contamination is a wedge issue in some cities that want to curve down on late-night partying. I know of many gay bars that suspect they're running noise control on their districts, and leaving others alone. I don't much buy into it because gay bars are like everywhere, but meh... it's politics.
And environmental awareness, well... conservation of our natural patrimony is not really a wedge issue as far as I'm aware. Green energy might, as they cut certain subsides to solar farms, for instance, but they look favorably to it anyway. But the rightwing party has pushed for extra protection of species like the iberian linx, and a variety of fish, birds, and local vegetation.

well while i clearly was misinformed, 'less left wing, more right wing' doesn't make me any more happy.
a biased state is a perpetual tyranny as far as I'm concerned.

Its very hard to trust there wont be mission creep when they cant readily identify the mission.
