Hillary Clinton Declared Presumptive Dem Nominee

    https://twitter.com/AP/status/739975278483656705

The associated press has called the race for Hillary Clinton, she has reached the magic number of 2,383 delegates, making her the first woman to be the nominee of a major political party.

Most media outlets won't call it til tomorrow I believe, I'm not sure where their math has said she's reached it, but according to them she has.

The race is over, Hillary Clinton has defeated Senator Bernie Sanders for the democratic Nomination.

The stage is set for the general election, Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump.

Doesn't this number include super delegates who don't vote until the convention?

Yeah, it does. But, hey, when you're in the bag for Hillary, you're in the bag for Hillary.

Couldn't really be a more obvious dirty trick to try and dissuade voters from voting for Sanders tomorrow. I mean, they could've waited until tomorrow's primaries were done, but...meh...better to run the headlines now. Amirite?

No surprise there, I guess. Let's hope it stays that way, and that Hillary becomes president. I rather have Obama for 8 more years, but I guess will have to do.
    Mother pus bucket!

They won't switch to the person who has less pledged delegates, she's won, even if he won CA by 60-40 he still loses, it MIGHT be close in CA, but still a favorite for Hillary.

Then again, if you think about it, the establishment media has had a presumptive nominee for months now. The presumption that Hillary would be the nominee began long before Sanders even announced he was running. I mean, in Hillary's head, she's been presuming this for years now.

So, establishment media doing their "delegate counts", including superdelegates who haven't voted and who can vote for whomever they like, at this point, just before tomorrow's primaries... Myeah. No dirty tricks here, none at all.

I wasn't notified that the AP gets to pick the nominee.

Hillary has been the presumptive nominee since the beginning. That's what the word "presumptive" means: people presuming something to be the case.

    Just, be kind.

When you're calling the Associated Press a shill for Hillary, you've really entirely run out of arguments.

Im for Hillary, but this seems really soon. I mean its likely true, but I rather see the process play itself out first.

Although this is getting to Scooby Doo levels of silly. "I woulda won the nomination if it werent for you darned super delegates".

The AP has been generally the one who has called it for candidates during the primary this cycle. Nearly every Bernie win and Clinton win was called by them, except for the blow outs. This is because news companies are skittish about it.

AP calling it now is entirely consistent with what they've been doing all cycle, which is being the most neutral arbiter there is.

I love how the Clinton camp (and her surrogates) don't quite seem to grasp the fact that this is an absolutely horrendous way to court the Bernie supporters that she will need when the general comes around. I swear it's almost like getting the nomination is more important to her than the actual Presidency.

Clinton doesn't control what AP publishes - she has zero control for them calling a predicted win as they've been doing this entire electoral season for *both* sides.

There have been nominee's in major party's for over 225 years -- This is the first time it's a woman.

History has been made today, or in some cases tomorrow, or in other cases in July when it's fully official.

But this is amazing. I expect that we will hear more about that glass ceiling tomorrow, in her speech, the one she talked about in her 2008 concession speech.

And when she gets elected, we'll hear how it has been shattered, i've been waiting a long time for this primary to be over. And now I just have 5 more months and finally she will be President of the United States.

8 years ago tomorrow she conceded to Obama, and when I listened to that speech, I said I hope in 8 years it's a different story, and thank god it is.

That was more of a general commentary on the process so far than this specific instance. I've heard some rumblings that the media is going to be fairly quick to try and call this primary as over. Not really wise to look like your saying to the otherside "time to grow up and accept the inevitable", especially when some of his supporters have been shown to be a little over zealous.

Yeah... The political establishment has no sway over the establishment media. Stick with that story.

if you want to go into consipracy theory and "well they can lean on them to publish x".. sure. Give me the proof and I'll be on your side. Saying that it's so because they're doing what they've been doing, even when the reports are "Bernie is going to win x state" is some serious bullshit though, as Hillary would surely quash those predictions.

There's an argument to be made that market pressures to call races as early as possible aren't healthy for voting patterns, but acting like Clinton is puppeteering AP is just dumb.

So much this! The closer she gets to the nomination, the farther she gets from the actual presidency.

At this point I think Bernie supporters hate her more than Trump supporters.
