It's probably been said already (the thread is at 11 pages), but Hillary's lead at the moment could owe some to the "post-primary bump." The same one that Trump got, where he was within 1.5% of Clinton.

I still can't see how he could possibly pull off the election, though. I mean, the only presidential candidate LESS liked than him was David Duke... and Trump may have just taken the lead spot in that competition.

The current gap though isn't just growth for Clinton, its a significant drop for Trump. These last two weeks have been a lot of unforced errors for the candidate.

I feel like everyone was running around like Chicken Little after he won the Republican primaries.

The only people voting were Republicans.

No, other candidates were liked less, such as Ted Cruz.

Nah what won him the primaries was his bigotry and xenophobia. He got giant polling leaps after his comments then every time his polling started to fall off he'd make another comment about some out-group or other and it'd leap back up again. That won't work with the Nov electorate. The bigots and xenophobes have already pre-sorted themselves into the republican party so there just isn't enough of them in the remainder of the electorate to guarantee a win.

    or

You get something like the Libertarian Party surging in to replace the fallen GOP...but they have ideas that don't really match up to your personal worldview either.

If he can't win why are so many leftists freaking out about the possibility of him being president?

Personally I would rather let Democrats be president and see if they sink or succeed rather than reform. I do like the libertarian idea, I think libertarian-authoritarian is a better paradigm for modern politics.

Thats not what he said. Trump said Obama refused to use the words Islamic terrorism and that he was not doing enough to stop home grown terrorists. Then he launched into the refugee thing which while its not a problem now it could become one in the future.

Lets face it Obama has done nothing to stem the rising tide of home grown terror. It took him years to stop calling the Fort Hood shooting workplace violence. These attacks are ultimately a failure of his administration to follow through with proper investigations.

I just want the GOP to go back to center right so they can act like a pragmatic foil to the Democrats. Drop the "no such thing as climate change" shtick, guns for everyone no matter the cost, God above all and abortion is a sin bullshit and stick to fiscal responsibility and moderate social change.

I don't see the point, we don't need social change. We're doing good as is.
