Whats witholding you from rolling a new main?

I would say time invested, as the character is eleven years old at this point. I do, however play alts as I plateau content in expansions. I will always put most of my time every day/week into my main and then play others if bored or wanting to do something else.

For me, I would say reputation and professions. I am not levelling fishing and archaeology ever again!!

I think its stupid that people feel such bond with a character in a game where you need flexibility to be the best you can be to your guild, friends and raiding team.

I've been wanting to try a different healer than Resto Druid. But I can't imagine raiding without Blink...

Also, afraid I won't be as good with a new class since I've played my druid since TBC.

dont feel like having to grind the ring. lfr is painfully boring. community isnt strong enough to back up doing old content to farm a broken item thats basically required to play the game.

Time invested and sentimentality. I love my Hunter. LOVE. Even though Legion is nuking the class from orbit and replacing it with some strange alien creature that Blizzard is still calling Hunter for some reason, I still want to play it. You know you're attached to something when you can't give it up even when it jumps the shark.

That being said, as long as they don't massively fuck it up between now and launch, I'll likely be maining Enhancement. I just don't think Hunter would hold my attention in Legion. BM is boring as hell, MM is a disaster, and if I was going to play a melee, I might as well play Enhance over SV because it's just objectively better for my preferences.

Have mained a forsaken lock for over 10 years now and have never thought about or been tempted to switch mains. But why swap when you already play the master class? ;p

I've swapped mains infrequently over my career since vanilla.. but usually it tends to be alternating between warlock and warrior. It all depends on what the guild I'm apping to needs, ranged or melee.

I think it's because I'm infatuated with the aesthetic and style of the two W classes.

I've played quite a bit on my druid (hitting 1 year played soon). Druids havent been in the best place as of late and while balance is great for getting old stuff done quick, i cant help but feel i want to go back to (demon)hunter. One problem, i cba to do the 23k achievment points (91% of all achievments done) all over again and abandon all the time invested. If all achievments were account wide id switch in a heartbeat.

Is there anything witholding you from swapping mains? And if so, what?

Dunno about Legion but in WOD pvp they was in best place as Healers (Resto Druid) in rated 3vs3 arena, in rated and random bgs other healers was doing good also, but top3x3 EU ladder is mostly resto druids.

Also in random bgs Balance druid doing pretty good WOD

I've been a Rogue since BC. I despise it in PvE but love it in PvP. Since PvP is pretty much the only thing I do (now), it's been my main. No other playstyle really feels good to me. My other alt is a DK but I invest far less time in it. I don't really like Monk all that much. Demon Hunter doesn't really seem appealing either but only time will tell. I have tried feral druid but the energy regen just feels clunky to me.

I'm in a weird spot.. been ret since late wotlk. And with legion on the horizon and the complete rework of the spec, removal of key abilities and no longer having an execute. Ret feels like a shell of what it is, even live. I'm having so much fun atm gearing up in PvP with my buddy. Dreading the pre-patch as it seems it'll be when I switch to prot. Though I don't have much experience tanking and from what it seems like, Prot is rather strong in both PvE and PvP.

My paladin is the only class I have maxxed professions on. Including secondaries on top of a measly 65 days /played.

The thought of investing that elsewhere is overwhelming.

I like my shaman too much. The archetype is very much to my liking. I'm planning on switching from Ele to Enh Shaman when the pre-patch hits. Always loved the idea of Enh, but have always majorly disliked several parts of it's gameplay which have made me return to Ele couple of times now since... Wotlk I think. Seems quite a bit more likable in Legion.

If I'm to change my main, it would be to my Ret paladin.

Pretty much this, I levels a pally as my first char but no body wanted a ret. so did a lock but when wrath hit I just managed to have 5k ( for flying) so I made a choice for a new main. My lock or my new dk. I went with the dk and I grinded everything on him from vanilla reputation to 100 mounts to heroic raiding. There's just way to much to do if I did start over. Although a dh is tempting

RBG PvP mounts being restricted to one character only.
Some achievements, especially the PvP ones that aren't tracked account wide (x wins, etc).
Factions.
Lore-master for the wardrobe feature (if new class is a different amor specialisation).

Its tough playing 1-2 "mains" for so long and then trying to switch. I thought about switching to Rogue or Warrior... but all the items I've gathered, the achievement points, and FoS, the memories etc would make it hard. It would feel much emptier.
