Gas station gives discounts to Cops & Legal Gun Owners in response to robberies.

    Source

After two robberies in less than three months, a Minnesota gas station owner came up with a unique solution: cheap gas for law enforcement or customers with concealed-carry permits.

Earlier this month, Frank Schwagel, who owns a Shell gas station in Sauk Rapids, posted a sign inside his store that reads, "Gas discount for law enforcement or people with proof of permit to carry. 10 cents per gallon after 7:00 p.m. daily."
I find this hilarious, it will be interesting how it plays out.

Keep it on topic, if you don't like guns you can complain about it here - http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...Control-Thread

Not a bad idea, IMO. Increased legal carry/law enforcement folks in a presumably bad area. Good on that business owner for taking profit from his pocket to help crime.

It's an interesting idea but I don't see it ending well. I can see it giving the discounts to cops. But not to just random legal gun owners. Seems like that part might bite them in the ass.

It is a gun topic. Why not posting it as an anecdote in the gun thread, to begin with?
Would make a much broader discussion, I would think.

It's hard to talk about guns without talking about guns, wouldn't you say so? lol

    Anyway, to the story itself..
Businesses have the right to give incentives to whomever they please. Nothing special from that angle.

Remember Blockbuster stores? In my country they gave discounts to police officers so they would be more present and avoid robberies.

Clerk: Are you a legal gun owner?
Customer: Sure, here's my license, and here's my gun
Cop walks in: He's got a gun, draws and shoots customer.

Its a different situation, it's not about the legal right to have guns.

was more thinking of a customer lifting their jacket to expose the gun.
Next person confusing it as a robbery in progress.

I obviously just made that scenario up

On the contrary, it creates an enviroment where you can bribe cops for "personal protection". Such should fall under corruption clause.

Youre stretching pretty far on this. How you can even begin to think your comment is rational in any way shows how truly ignorant you are. Maybe you should step away from the cop bashing YouTube channels a bit.

As an officer many restaurants give them discounts when they are uniform, so do apartment complexes

It has nothing to do with cop bashing. It's simple human nature. "It's okay just because it's little conveniences" is not even slippery slope, it'll cause bias at some level.

It's a professional courtesy. Are you also against people in the military getting discounts?

How is it professional courtesy to give advantages to people doing a job? Don't they get paid doing it? Thankfully here we have legistlation against such.

So alot of times truck drivers who work for big companies like Swift get discounts on pretty much anything that is shipped using their companies trucks. Are you against that too?
