    Cyclops

    So Cyclops from the X-men. Does he see all red? I mean what is his vision like with that beam being there full time?

    If Scott is not using his optic blasts, he sees normally. If looking through the visor it is commonly depicted as a tint- like sunglasses.

    When blasting, so to speak, Scott is actually allowing the energy of another dimension to pour through his eyes. Scott's eyes are the portal to that dimension. The effect produces streaky red/pink-ish color in his field of view amid normal coloration of the world.

    Cyclops can not actually 'fire' his beams nonstop. He gets tired, worn out and the wider his field of view the weaker the blasts. Also he needs sunlight to keep the energy going- he metabolizes it and his body produces an energy field of sorts along with this phenomenon.

    Does sunlight keep the portal open? How does he rest? It doesn't damage his tissue?

    Cyclops' tissues are immune to the effects of the energy, hence he can block it with his hands or eyelids. His Alex (Havok) uses a similar form of energy and they are immune to each others powers.

    Scott sees the world in shades of Gold.

    I used to have some red glassed sun-glasses and once your brain and eyes get used to the red and start accomodating for them everything becomes bright and golden and not red at all. Morrison mentioned it too in an early issue of New X-Men, so he must have done his research.

    No. Cyclops' mind projects a psionic field that is replenished by sunlight. That field protects his body/organs from the eye beams.

    Without the visor or sunlight, the beams still emit all-the-time but can be reduced in power to a degree that his beams do almost nothing and Scott doesn't even need the visor. Like if you submerge Slim in total ambient darkness without ruby quartz. Eventually he just 'burns out' and the eye beams are like a dull glow.

    Cyclops' optic blasts are very powerful. He can punch through a mountain and disarm Thor with optic blasts.

    What brand were the red glassed sun-glasses and where did you get them?! I've always wanted a pair! Price range?

    Wait...that's in continuity? That his mutant power is "eye portal to the laser dimension"? Yikes...mind you, wacky origin for his optic blasts is kind of the least of Cyclops problems these days, what with him basically being some kind of nearly villainous douchebag these days. (In fact, isn't he basically a full on criminal? I recall that he was in jail prior to all the universal change pap they've done recently)

    Then again, Marvel seems to have a hatred for their classic hereos, given they seem to get replaced every other day >.<;
