The Game, Snoop Dogg lead march to LAPD headquarters, meet with Chief Charlie Beck

Rappers and Los Angeles-area natives the Game and Snoop Dogg led a unification march for men of color Friday morning to the LAPD’s graduation of its newest officers, hours after five Dallas police officers were shot and killed and seven others were wounded during a sniper attack.

About 6:30 a.m., the Game posted on his Instagram account a call for black, Mexican and men of all races to march to the Los Angeles Police Department’s headquarters to “make the Californian government & it’s law branches aware that from today forward, we will be UNIFIED as minorities & we will no longer allow them to hunt us or be hunted by us !!!”

He said women and children should stay away, “THIS IS OUR MISSION FOR THEM,” he wrote.

The Game, a Compton native whose legal name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, said in his announcement the march had to be peaceful.

“Do not: bring any weapons or anything illegal. Do not come high or belligerent ... We don’t need any HOT HEADS or anyone there for the wrong reasons… We will stand as we are, UNIFIED. I’m calling ALL GANGS, ALL RACES, ALL GROWN MEN affiliated or not & we will stand UNIFIED.”

The Game said Friday morning that he was leading the march as a leader of his community and as a human being.

“I would be lying to you if I didn’t say I was saddened by what happened in Dallas. I would be lying to you if I didn’t say I was angered about what occurred in Minnesota and Louisiana and Fresno,” he said. “The cops that died in Dallas weren’t the cops that shot and killed Philando or Alton. As much as Philando and Alton didn’t deserve that, those cops in Dallas didn’t deserve that. And the only thing I could think of was to initiate peace on both sides, so that’s why I’m here.”

It's nice to see people making an effort to open a dialogue and reach some common ground.

By trying to intimidate the police, a veiled threats and lies about minorities being hunted. If they only put this much energy into trying to stop the violence in their own communities. Where is the marches for the innocents killed by the gang violence and the black on black crime?

I want to say something negative, but the compulsion to praise this outweighs that. I applaud this. I always liked Game.

More of what? A joke and publicity stunts to prop up sagging careers?

Cynicism isn't going to fix the problems the US faces right now.

Like i Said fix the problem in their own communities first. Stop playing the perpetual victim card. Stop electing the same politicans they have been for over 50 years who keep enacting the same policies in these communities and expect things to change. Start taking pride in them selves. Stop having kids as a means of income. Start having respect for human life.

A march by a couple of rappers who made their money about being criminals and fuck the police is not going to help a damn thing. It it will do is incite more violence.

Where is the outrage aimed at the politicians in the Black communities that do nothing but profit from their poverty, yet they are relected time and time again

Maybe nothing will come from this. Maybe it was publicity. I don't know. At the end of the day, its the right approach. Organize peacefully. Talk respectfully on both sides. And grow. There were a lot a tragedies this week. Hell, there are tragedies around the world every day. I'm a firm believer in peace. I know it isn't always the easiest path, but I truly believe that an eye for an eye leaves the world blind. So, good for them for organizing this.

"Snoop Dogg led a unification march for men of color". Doesn't get any more tribal and self-serving than that.

Until he uses his real name and actually speaks English, I will not listen to "Snoop Dog".

I appreciate the effort. Snoop is popular and has millions of fans.

At least he's getting the idea out there.

How about they use their fame to discourage the gangster/thug/gangbanger life style they helped promote. The same life style that teaches "don't snitch".

Yes, this is indeed this greatest irony of when rappers try and dabble in politics.

    Haha oh yes.

The irony is so sweet it hurts.

Generations of Afican-American boys have grown up not looking up to lawyers, doctors or the likes of but to criminals.

    Good job, 'Snoop Dogg'.

If music creates criminals, then video games make mass murderers.

You're willfully ignorant if you think role models have no influence on children.

You're willfully ignorant if you think growing up and seeing people that look like you mainly as thugs or criminals, and that it's considered acceptable or normal, doesn't screw you up.
