Please no. I don't think the US can survive another four years of Republican economic policy.

Right, like the gov't can't be bothered with overseeing the education system since it isn't very important. Better left to profiteers ("privatization") just to use as source of income and investment, with the result being kids coming out of high school who can barely spell or comprehend at a 4th-grade level.

Are we frequenting the same website? I see just as many posts complaining about Republicans/conservatives as I do about Democrats/liberals.

Also I like how you cannot even question party policies anymore without having someone from the right or left trying to stifle discussion by going the "bashing" route.

The word theocracy was thrown around endlessly back when Bush was in office. No, just a lot of ignorant people/drama queens.

By this point I think the Republican party leaders are out of touch with the majority of their voter base.

    An excerpt from the article:

"The platform demands that lawmakers use religion as a guide when legislating, stipulating “that man-made law must be consistent with God-given, natural rights.”

It also encourages the teaching of the Bible in public schools because, the amendment said, a good understanding of its contents is “indispensable for the development of an educated citizenry.”

The pornography provision was not in an initial draft that the Republican National Committee drew up and released on Sunday. But delegates added it on Monday at the same time they were inserting many of the amendments opposing gay and transgender rights. It calls pornography “a public menace” that is especially harmful to children".

It's like they are deliberately trying to lose the election as evidenced by trying to adopt far right policies in the past or to push away any moderates they had left.

Also since when is the US a theocracy?
Well, the republican obsession with using the bible as a template for legislating morality and social policy is the primary reason I'm not a registered republican, and was my biggest beef with folks like Ted Cruz.

But so long as they keep the religious crazies, I don't think they'll be winning anything much longer. Hammering against gays and screaming about God is going to net fewer and fewer people over the next few decades.
    Indeed

Everytime I hear another conservative say " Well the bible says" I just want to throw them out a building. they are ruining the conservative brand.

Indeed, was all me even though I was nine years old when Bush was elected.

Good call, pointing out my ignorance... Also you are a truly gifted person being able to tell me that I am wrong about my own comment and thoughts... Truly remarkable.

I don't like their economic policy either, I'm just pointing out that their strategy of courting the religious sucks.

I have yet to meet a real one. Imagine, a politician that advocated us turning the other cheek to terrorists and giving away your entire livelihood to be distributed to the poor. They wouldn't last 10 minutes.

As literature it's a remarkable peek into an ancient culture. As science, well...
