If you actually read the study, then surely you noticed that was literally the only category of force used by the police in which black people were not significantly more often subjected to it. Given that the complaints about the shootings are not about shootings per se, but about bias in how the police handle black people as opposed to white people, the study is actually supportive of the overall narrative rather than the damning dismissal you are treating it as.

Add that the researcher used just police reports, which of course is up to how the officer wants to write up the act. Also it was just from the city of Houston. I think he took the stats while from a variety of cities they were all from the south basically and offered no great blanket of the whole U.S.
