I disagree. Both the wording and the structure are so close to one another that Michelle Obama's speech was obviously open in front of whomever wrote this.

That said, and I say this as somebody who is vehemently anti-Trump: I couldn't care less. If it were Trump himself we could talk, but I really don't care about the speech a candidate's wife gives. I'm more annoyed by the Trump campaign's "what? Issues? Us? No you must just be stupid" attitude. But then again that's the attitude they've had about every issue they've had for as long as the campaign has existed, so there's no sense getting worked up about it now.

The plagiarism itself isn't a huge deal (even though the same sunk Joe Biden's bid for Presidency).

What's far more telling is how the Trump campaign failed to properly pre screen the keynote speech that his wife presented. I mean, he's running for the highest office of the most influential country in the entire world. He keeps telling us "I'm going to hire the best people, and they'll give me the best advice."

We've seen absolutely no evidence that he's going to run a competent general election bid.

Alinsky wrote, in Rules for Radicals (emphasis added): “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.” Michelle Obama said: “And Barack stood up that day, and he spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about ‘the world as it is‘ and ‘the world as it should be.'” (Perhaps Mr. Obama who left out the attribution.)

I didn't ignore your post. I responded to it. Using the words "the world as we know it" and "the world as it is" isn't uncommon verbiage. Now if she had said “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.” THAT would be plagiarism, because she would have apparently lifted the entire sentence, including structure and order from Alinsky.

Melania's speech, on the other hand lifted whole segments of Michelle Obama's speech near verbatim. These are not comparable.

The rest of you "Hillary does it too" bits seem to be her taking similar talking points to other people, again not ripping off whole sections of speeches verbatim.
