A noob issue with RAM sticks

Very simple, I'm about to get my desktop upgraded for the GPU, and while being at it, I will finally switch off my odd RAM setup, which is one 8 gig and one 4 gig, for some kind of middle ground DD3 8 gig.

As those bars always come in pair, what would be the best setup ?

    8+8 (just the new ones)

    8+8 + (older 8) +4 (everything )

8+8+8 (trying to find two DD3 of the same exact model)

If both of your stick are the same 8+8 is best.

Technically, it really won't matter. 16gb total (8+8) ought to be enough. If you find, for some reason, needing more, just put them all in.

RAM is sort of like fuel. Having more than you need won't make it go faster.. But not having enough is the problem.
