'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
It played a negligible if not inconsequential role in the crash itself. Did it make it worse? Yes. But the seizure of assets came after the crash was already well under way. Not sure what you mean by mismanagement of assets, but it was relying heavily on oil as its biggest commodity by far long before the socialists.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
I'm not trying to say this to be an asshole, but this is what happens to countries that don't diversify. Eventually, there's a strong chance the one big thing you're focused on will fail, crash, or no longer be in demand, and that's going to tank your economy hard.
Importing is fine, everyone does it, but you still need your own food. Maybe not enough to fill every need, but enough to help supplement and get people by during the lean times. I feel for these people, but this is something the government and businesses should've seen coming a long time.
Man this is a sadness. We're in 2016. We've landed on the moon, asteroids, and Mars. We've had technological marvels that our ancestors could never dream of. How are human beings still starving? Food should be a right, not a privilege. Im not saying you know, buy everyone a steak dinner every night. But at least corn and rice and beans. Really basic staples to help the less fortunate survive so they can work towards a better future. IDK. Maybe im just an idealist.
Wew, another piece of really nice geography, destroyed by central planning!
No its becuse of the nice climate. Lets say in Northern Europe you need a effective society, becuse of things do not work
it will be mass death during winter, hence a long tradition we need a effective society at any price or we are doomed.
In a tropical paradice, who need a traditon to plan like mad, then you get several harvests each year insted of one, if the power do not work, its a inconvenient, its not that I will freeze to death, hence you do not need a effective society at any price, becuse its not disastrous.
If we take it to the extream, a space colony will be crazy about to maintain there air conditioning, becuse if it fail they will die, hence then a heat wave (or space colony variant of heat wave) hit all air conditioning can work at peak prefromence. Here on earth (especially if it's favorable climate) the air conditioning sound vired, naaa take it later....then the Heat wave hit air conditioning cant work on peak prefromence becuse of lack of maintenance and peopel get heatstroke.

Hey, being Greek, I'm just gonna say what everyone has told any suffering Greek the last few years: They have absolutely no one to blame but themselves for being so corrupt and having a terrible government and they deserve no help at all. At least no *free* help.
No one owes them shit, and they can't complain about any derision thrown their way.
There, did I do it right?
I've heard this theory. Indeed, it might be the reason European, Middle Eastern civilizations have developed much faster than Central-Southern American, African and Australian ones, because it is much harder to survive in the cold or a desert, than in lush forests with very warm climate - so you need to make much more effective political and economical systems for that to work, and those systems carry you forward.
But then, for example, Greek and Roman civilizations, that were at the time at the peak of civilization, developed in warm and comfortable for living regions. While civilizations in the deserts on the north-west of Africa weren't doing well. So perhaps it is not as big a factor as the theory suggests, and the correlation doesn't imply the causation.
The US is struggling. Millions people are using food banks. Tens of thousands of people die each year from lack of affordable health care. Millions of people are leaving the country every year.
Capitalism doesn't work.
Maybe they'll reconsider their flawed politics.
The only good communist is a.. starving communist?
US bumped the oil price really high, then dropped it to ground.
This can really "kill" lots of people.
