I'm not married and don't have kids, so I guess that landmark for me would be the "Well...shit. What now?" moment when I graduated college in my early 20s. I'd say that was when it really hit me.
I got my first job at 14 and worked there for 3 years, but I can't say my childhood ended at 14 and keep a straight face. The job wasn't due to any kind of pressure from my parents or anything. I ended up on my own at 17 after running away from foster families on and off and living a bit on my own for a year.
So i guess technically at 16?
