Why are you a Republican or Democrat?

Why do you lean Republican or Democrat? This will not be a thread to bitch about the "other" party. Just state why you like Republican or Democrat. What draws you to that party? Just remember, this is not a bitch-fest thread, just state what draws you to that party. Those who are Independents please ignore this thread.

So again, this is not a bitch-about-the-other-party-thread.

    Mine:

    DEMOCRAT

Pretty simple, I think we are a better people when we look out for each other. I believe faith is a personal matter. That the oil, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries get windfall profits and tax breaks while the regular person does not get those breaks. I do not like to see to see Corporations/businesses exploit and abuse workers. I feel that there is more power in hope than in fear.

    EDIT:

Ok then. I started this thread and now am thoroughly disgusted with the whole thread. I specifically stated ( 3 times) at the start on how this will be all about why you like your party and no bashing of the other party. You fuckers cannot control yourselves. You wonder why the political system is so fucking bad and whine about it constantly. It's because the political direction is directed by you all and and most (not all) can't fucking control yourselves. Look at the mess the system is in. Your fault. You let it happen. This is why we cannot have nice things.

Mods, can you just close this gong show of a thread?

I am a democrat. I am against trickle down economics and deregulation. If the socialist party had a chance at winning I would vote socialist.

To put it in the most civil way possible, I believe Democrats are naive and believe in fairy tale thinking, almost like a Disney movie. This head in the clouds thinking is amusing at best, and destructive at worse.

Even though it would be nice if everybody in the world would get along, that is simply not how the world works. The human race is not perfect, and there are certain things hard-wired that won't go away. Cultures will always clash.

There will always be rich people and poor people, because there are always hard working and lazy, and sometimes lucky and unlucky.

War is necessary. Violence has also solved more problems in the history of man than "love" and diplomacy.

I love the USA. I feel Democrats either don't appreciate the USA at best, and hate it at worse. If somebody is in the USA and burning and American flag, I assume it's a liberal.

I value tradition. Change for the sake of it I do not agree with.

I value the family unit. Wife, Husband, Kids. Strong family = strong community = strong nation.

I think their ideas on equality are backwards. Racism I already think will never go away, but it especially won't go away if you give certain parties special treatment, and tell them all their problems are due to another race.

I value capitalism. Let people innovate and create and compete.

I could go on, just a few parts.

I vote straight democrat atm since policies republicans will put in place regarding lgbt people scares me. I don't really have the comfort to vote for a 3rd party and risk the current republican party getting total control over the government.

Because I'm not cool if I'm not in a clique. Pretty much like it is in high school. In fact, that's exactly what modern society reminds me of... high school. It certainly explains the popularity of the Trump-child.

Spot on, basically the same here as well.

I'd usually vote Democrat, but Hillary is such a fucking criminal, I wouldn't vote for her unless the opposition was Bernie Madoff.

I grew up with a republican father and democrat mother. I saw both sides, what each offered. And I settled for democrat. To me the economic principles held up better.

Distribution of social wealth via government programs gave people assistance to get by, while at the same time it keeps retail stable.

Taxing to keep our infrastructure up-to-date(of course now we see the problem of funds going in all the wrong directions)

I also very much appreciate the work done in the agricultural sector with government subsidies for products. Many people dont realize that farmers run on a deficit and the subsidy programs keep them running a profit.

Then there are the social issues. Republicans can agrue it all theu want. But they tend to hold a bias. They favor a certain class of people. They also allow the christian faith(not going to go further than this) to penetrate the party platform which is just wrong.

I'm in the middle, but I lean more towards republican. I do recruiting in a big city and have dealt with pretty much all of the demographics, I've seen a lot of people stuck in poverty and IMO it seems like the democrat system isn't helping the folks most in need, young people, who often have little money and that are trying to find their way in the world. I fully acknowledge that some social services are necessary but at the same time too many run unchecked and in some cases keep people hooked on them or they become dependent on them from the very beginning, instead of being designed to wane them off eventually.

Couldn't have said it better. A lot of the democrat/liberal way of thinking is offensive and downright frightening to me.

I'm an Independent that leans left. Both parties say stupid shit but I could live with the stupid shit that the Democrats say. Democrats also don't do stupid shit like make gay marriage a critical political platform, say they're for limited government but propose ideas that will require heavy federal oversight, complain about illegal immigrants only when its time to pay said immigrants, "trickle down economy", say they have want give people the best healthcare options but are fine with ridiculous overages in the healthcare industry, "we want to decrease government spending but we need more tanks!!!!". the list goes on.

Heterosexuals marrying and divorcing with disregard to how it impacts their kids is fine but two gay dudes can't adopt needy kids and raise a family? Get the fuck out of here.

Buck lives in a world where if someone disagrees with him, they hate America. Everything I am reading from him is part of the problem. How can someone with that mindset handle half the country disagreeing with them? Its a downright terrifying mindset to have. I cant imagine claiming that since someone automatically disagrees with me that they hate me and America. That would mean a lot of people are automatically traitors.
