they did this same bullshit during mop with battle pets. people were leveling their toons with pet battles fast and they nerfed the shit out of it
Keep in mind over the weekend a bunch of twitch/youtubers posted videos showing how to afk level alts with invasions and blizzard saw the vids and nerfed the crap out of it. same thing happened with battle pet xp
POWERED BY THE RED RAGE OF OUR CUSTOMERS, THIS IRON STEED WILL VALIANTLY LEAD YOU INTO BATTLE FOR THE ONLY FEW WEEKS YOU WILL USE IT. TAKES ONLY $30 AND YOUR SOUL TO ENJOY THE MOUNT EVERY OTHER PERSON HAS. BUY NOOOW.
Except this is only a timed event until launch, right now there is no reason to do invasions to level unless you enjoy levelling slowly. They killed off a significant portion of Invasions runners. Sure it was only because of the XP, but i saw a lot of them actively helping.
I'm just glad for whatever discourages AFK'ers from showing up, they were completely useless anyway and the rest of us won't have to unwillingly carry some waste of space leeching off of other peoples' effort. Good riddance.
Think of it this way, then.
I will gladly follow you into battle.
I'll wait until you've engaged some boss.
I'll run in, and use a long-range attack. ONE long-range attack.
My attack will increase the boss's health, since there's now one more person in combat.
Which means that it will have opportunities for a few more hard-hitting attacks on YOU.
Meantime, I'm in some safe spot outside the range of their AoE attacks.
You get the tougher fight, you get the larger repair bill, you get to have me leeching off you even more.
And what do I get? Well, I get lots of bonus nethershards, and my lowbies get extra XP, and you get to do all the work.
Sure, I might die a few times. But I'll be sure to whisper my thanks to you, saying "glad you did all that work for me; aren't you glad I helped out?"
So, how's the experience gain after the recent hotfix buffing mob EXP? Yesterday invasions became useless, but if mobs reward now serious EXP, we can probably tag everything.
My mate received XP from sitting on my back while i flew him to the Invasion.
Hehehehehe. Whoops. Blizz created an expansion where you need 12 alts to experience everything, but forgot to add new ways to get XP.
It would be sure nice to have:
FATEs
Levequests
Guildhests
Trials
Roulettes
Deep Dungeons
Hunting Logs
Hunting Marks
Challenge Logs
With the changes to mob XP I am about even or a little bit better than before the nerf, low level players seem to be at an advantage here (got 4k on a mob without rested bonus at level 60, and 7k on the same mobtype with level 91) and heirloomed low level toons kill the mobs significantly faster.
But this only works if you have a place for you to farm alone - as soon as there is another player (especially if he is high level) the XP plummets to the ground (literally from 15k to 80).
So during main hours you hardly will get a shot on high XP.
They should simply fix the XP to give a certain percentage of your level per mob, regardless who was else tagging it, or if this is easier they should remove XP sharing altogether for the invasions.
Except that a single attack is not helping at all, as you also pointed out yourself. Instead of sitting on your ass in some safe spot after tagging them once, you could actually fight them. Now that would be helping and many lowbies actively do it. There's really no excuse not to since they do scale.
Edit: There are also max lvl AFK'ers, so it's not just a lowbie thing.

Why would I fight them if I can just tag and get nether shards?
Thats what I used on my 100's for farming the shards, tag as many of the skulls I can before they die and just safely stand back, not having to worry about my repair bill.

If they made it so that tagging didn't split it up, it would be great for leveling, atm the in P2 and P4 you get 100 or less XP for tagging
Invasion would be great for leveling if not this XP sharing. If I solo kill a mob its great, 1200 xp when i was rested, most of the time hovewer around 150 due too many players atacking the mob.
