I have no idea what i had my autosave timer set to, and I'm holding off on opening up the game because i dread to see where the last save is at.

I feel like there should be an auto save when you fast travel. I can't remember right now though. You might not be tooooo screwed.

Oh there's definitely an auto save when you quick travel, but i was in vault 88 building for 3 hours straight.

Game auto saves on every loading screen afaik. Won't help you if you're in the same area though.

The game doesn't save at all if you are in build mode, nor does it save when you exit it. I found that out the hard way myself.

Outside of the build menu, the game will auto save any time you pull up and then put down your pip-boy as well as any loading screen you go through. It can also be turned on to save every X minutes, I think it's set to 15 minutes by default - but again, not while in build mode.
