    New computer - need help

My current computer is very old, 8 - 9 years or so, so I'm going to get a new one before / around Legion release.

I mainly play WoW and D3, with a little bit of Hearthstone, no high end mythic raids, just regular casual play (dungeons / BG's / LFR,...)

I'm looking at this at the moment (will add mroe details later):

    i5-6500
    16gb ram
    240gb kingston ssd
    2tb seagate hdd
    video card gtx 940 4gb
    1080p monitor

    My questions are:

What kind of performance can I expect with details at around 7 out of 10?

    Is it worth going from a 960 4gb to a 1060?

Thanks in advance for the advice !

What is your budget and where are you buying? Videocard I guess you mean GTX 960, which a bad choice. Monitor of course depends on which one. Kingston SSDs are currently bad. No motherboard, PSU and case specifics, make sure you add them.

Assuming the gtx940 is a typo and meant to be 960 I would advise against that card, grab a 1060 if you can afford it, it will perform a lot better, if not go for a 950 which is cheaper and can be overclocked to almost the same as a 960 saving you some money.

For the rest, it should run everything you want to more then fine with the occasional dip in highly crowded area's but that happens to everyone.

i got bored and played around on pc part picker, this is canadian mind you. I feel like i could put it together a bit cheaper at my local store. Monitor is always personal preference, i have used nothing but LG for the past 15+ years so thats what id pick. Could save a bit if you only want a blue hdd instead of the black.

Jeez I feel really bad for Canadians sometimes. $299 for a 960 what kind of catastrophe is this.
We dont know it any other way.

First off, apologies for first posting this thread in the wrong subforum.

    Now for some more info:

Budget: €1000-1200 (prefer to keep it close to €1000 but can go up if needed.
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Games / Settings Desired: World of Warcraft, Diablo3, Hearthstone mainly, not played a current AAA title in years.
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc): No
    Country: Netherlands
Parts that can be reused: None
Do you need an OS? Yes
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? I'm going to get a new monitor, but that's not included in this build.

I'm not comfortable building it myself, so I'll probably go with a custom pc / modified prebuild from a local shop ( most likely mycom.nl ).

Here is what I have in mind:

    processor: Intel Core i5-6500
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P
Graphics card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6G
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4
    SSD: Kingston UV400 240GB
    HDD: Seagate Desktop HDD 2TB
    PSU: Corsair CX600M Modular
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO
    Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-01
    DVD: AsusDRW-24F1MT
OS: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

Altogether including build fee the price would be around €1200.

Is this good value for money foor this type of system?
With a 960 instead of a 1060 the price would drop by about €80.

SSD is bad, PSU is bad, motherboard is questionable. All in all, this build should be about 900 EUR.

Thanks for the suggestions Thunderball! One thing though,Windows 10 is more like €105 here instead of €25. If Kinguin claims to be able to offer it for so much less I'm already sceptical. Mind you, I have nothing against buying on the internet, I just need the Windows to be legit.

I'll see which of these I can get, and post an updated list when I have one. Always open to more options too!

It's your choice, looks like a moral issue here. If you include buyer protection even if you get a non-working key you are guaranteed to get it replaced.

Not so much a moral issue as it is a practical one. I also need to be able to use the computer for work, and can't afford Microsoft making a fuss over a semi dodgy key.
