EDIT - I feel like what some Europeans may not grasp is that the reason that Americans gravitate toward this fictionalized conception of Ireland (or any other European country) is that it sort of matches up with what their parents and grandparents told them of the old country where life was hard but people were tough and looked out for each other and so on. Modern Europe, or at least the stereotypes Americans have of it, seems shallower and less authentic by comparison.

So there is something to care about in this picture? Seems quite efficient to merge the two national flags than wave both, only got a certain number of limbs and all. Not the first time someone has merged flags together to represent a dual nationality, not the last time either. So it really is quite a funny thing to see the amount of people seeing this as some sort of omen, chill, it's been done before with American/Canadian flags.. UK/French.. Nothern and Southern Ireland though as the North doesn't have an actual official state flag (the red hand one is unofficial and contested due to it's links to the Unionist and the tri color is the republics and thus contested due to it's links with Nationalists) It's pretty hard to actually do a merger... but it's been done mainly by putting the red hand of Ulster on the Union flag. True that's a Northern Ireland/UK example, suppose that means the UK needs to be called Ulster Kingdom now.

The USA went through a bloody war to rip itself apart from the UK.... they are TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME COUNTRY.

I think you are not compatible with German system of values, since one of those values is freedom of expression. One of the reasons Turkish immigrants move to Germany, too, since in Turkey you indeed can get imprisoned for drawing something foreign on the flag.

Flag law in Germany is not much different, if government wants it so. Freedom of expression is limited as freedom of speech is limited too.
