I love all the copy/paste newsposts that don't even offer an opinion.
Maybe one day MMOC will ban news posts. One can dream.....
Where did i say drugs wasnt a crime? I said it is more appropriate for rehab.

the is a scholarly one for you also. By all means, provide me with peer reviewed it is 100% not biological. You are laughable.
"Throughout the trial, Becker's attorney, Rooke, has maintained that putting Becker in jail, forcing him to register as a sex offender, or referring to him as "David the Rapist" would cause unnecessary damage to Becker's life and character."
As it would do to anyone who rapes two people. That's kind of what punishments are for, even if I think the punishments for many things are grossly high/disproportionate (such as in some areas of the world getting that same sex offender label for public urination) they should at least be equally sentenced, which he was not. As another poster mentioned, this reeks of bribing the system.
The articles don't give us much to go on. Think back to a time when you were young and dumb, with little experience handling your drinking and little experience with sex.
Let's say we have Allen, Bob, and Cathy. They're all in high school and all 18. They go to a party, get drunk, and end up sleeping together in an upstairs bedroom. Now, Cathy happens to be on her way to being a very popular model and she is used to being very popular with the guys at school. She wakes up and feels like playing around, so she grabs Allen's fishing tackle with the idea that she'll give him a nice wake up and things may go on from there. Allen wakes up to this, but he has spent the night getting blasted and just isn't in the mood, so he tells Cathy to let him sleep. Cathy figures she'll try the same on Bob, but Bob just started going out with Doris and knows Doris will castrate him with a spork if she finds out he fooled around with Cathy. So, Bob also tells Cathy no.
At this point in our hypothetical, Cathy has just had unwanted sexual contact with both Allen and Bob. Are we going to call her a rapist? Do we know, from the facts available, that anything other than this kind of scenario is what was involved in the case at hand? The articles don't really give us much to go on as far as what he did, maybe the description strikes you as being more of a violation than just Cathy giving Allen and Bob the start of a hand job. OK, so let's say she started with oral sex instead. Does that change things? If Cathy apologizes to Bob the next day, and Bob says "don't even worry about it" does that change anything? If Cathy is facing jail time and either Allen or Bob submits a statement saying that jail time isn't necessary, does that change anything?
If Cathy's name was really David, and Allen and Bob were women, would that change anything?
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
Sentence should definitely include jail time, but as he is a minor there will be limits on how long you can send teenager to jail
Still, this does seem over the line:
allegedly penetrating two unconscious victims with his finger at a house party
It came up in some other thread, and I can't remember what one, but mmo-c sure has a lot of creepy bastards.
"Kid". Seriously?
He's not 8, he's 18. Wtf.
Or maybe it's because I hate the word "kid" (I'm weird like that).
But he's an ADULT not a CHILD

He is legally defined as an adult, except when we look at alcohol. Where alcohol is involved, we've legally defined him as too young to handle it, years too young. So, what are three drunk eighteen year olds?Originally Posted by Faenskap

Well, maybe he'll join a fraternity in college who likes putting their fingers in other people too. Wouldn't that be a nice college experience?
I don´t get the US system at times.
18 year olds, allowed to vote, allowed to operate heavy machinery, allowed to star in porn movies, not allowed to drink alcohol.
So, when the person is too young to drink they are legally defined as a minor? On other cases despite being a minor because of the crime they are legally defined as an adult.
The same reason we don't follow Hammurabi's Code that says "If one man destroys the eye of another man, his eye will be destroyed"
The same reason we, at least in the Western World, don't lop off a person's hand for stealing.
That is why we should rehabilitate. I'm not saying 'Oh we give them a 401k and let them have access to bone everyone's mom'
I'm talking about a confined sentence where they can pay their debt to society and come out better people.

rape
verb
Definition of rape
raped raping
transitive verb
1
a archaic : to seize and take away by force
b : despoil
Pretty sure when I said 'She RAPED him of a future.' It was me using the word properly.
But I guess not everyone has access to a dictionary on google.
None of you have the actual facts of this case and just want to sling dirt.
My opinion? The judge got it right. People make mistakes. I'm pretty sure he learned a hard lesson from this ordeal. If he didn't, the next time he does something like this he ruins his entire life.

Whats the college experience anyway? And why is it valuable or even relevant for ones life?
That part right there, that is what is wrong here. From what i have read in the quote he was charged with something, but not convicted off. There even was a trail, but he was not convicted off it. Giving someone a sentence while not being convicted of a crime seems rather barbaric to me.
So you would define fingering two girls while they were unconcious as a "mistake?" I guess he just slipped or something.... So if one of the fathers of those two girls finds this kid and happens to slip and accidently bash in his skull, I guess we could call that a "mistake" as well?
I am curious to see how this judge is treated. The judge in that Stanford case in which the rapist was only given 6 months was crucified in the media. This kid didn't even get any time...
