People are over the moon because they're playing WoW and actually having fun, and don't see any obvious dark clouds on the horizon.

I'm interested that people are comparing this launch to WoD and saying that everyone loved WoD on release. That's not what I remember at all. WoD had a fairly positive reception, but nowhere near as positive as this - we had people complaining from the get-go, and further, we had people talking about how dull the Garrison would get and how anti-community it was (quite correctly, as it turned out).

Whereas here, the complaints are not entirely unjustified, but could essentially be applied to WoW since WotLK or MoP (depending on the specific complaint), and some of them make absolutely no sense whatsoever, like the idea that tagging mobs is "bad for the community". Having played MMOs with strict tagging rules since 1999, I have to say, that's just impossible for me to make sense of. So much anger and annoyance and bad blood came from tagging. The first time anyone was rude to me in an MMO, back in EQ in '99 was when a Japanese dude with very poor English but so much rage laid into me at length (I didn't know about ignore or any such thing!) because I was running around hitting snakes with my Shadow Knight, and ever since then, at least 70% of the reports I've had to file (and the only one I'm aware of being filed against me!) revolved around tagging. I've seen extreme bad blood between entire guilds or large numbers of players over tagging issues with world bosses, too.

So the current tagging system seems to be a massive boost to potential community to me. Just trying to figure that one out. I get the "but you had to ask people to group to get tags" deal, but guess what? In 17 years of MMOs, I've never met someone who became a good friend, invited me to a guild or the like that way. Grouping up for XP and stuff, sure but that's a rather different matter.

Even a quick look at Legion can tell you that it is far, FAR more content rich than Warlords ever was.

Let's see what WoD had once you dinged level 100:
    -Garrison system
-Dungeons that were obsolete within 2 weeks
-Apexis dailies that no one bothered with cos it took 2 months to grind enough for 1 good item
    -Highmaul Raid, then Blackrock Foundry

That's pretty much it! Garrisons destroyed professions. There was no max level content not tied to garrison. That's why WOD fell flat on its face very shortly after launch.

Legion is nothing like WoD. It has:

    -Lightweight garrison system
    -Extensive world quest system
-Dungeons that actually stay relevant post-launch (Mythic+)
-Usual stuff: raids on multiple difficulties
    -Extensive profession system
-Reps that aren't just dull mob grinds
-Transmog collecting is now a legitimate gameplay style (thanks to wardrobe system)

When I dinged 100 in WoD I was like OK so now heroics, then raid and...that's about it.
Now I don't even know where to start. Heroics, mythics, mythic+'s, WQs, all can give me upgrades thanks to titanforged system.
Yes the AP grind and garrison research time gates are annoying but no expansion can be perfect.
And no flying is a deal for me. I hate no flying. I HATE no flying. RAWR. There, I vented it off.

But if the expansion is good even I can stomach it. You can make some makeshift flying with bunch of toys. Or roll a DH for quasi-flying.
WOD had no flying (which for me is Hitler-level of bad) AND it was bad expansion overall.
Legion can redeem itself so much that I won't even care for no flying

    1. community
But why is the community shitty? "Well people are shitty ingames and turned for the worst over the years!!"
No. Blizzard removes certain things that required a community of better behaved people. In short: Blizzard had a game in where you required to cooperate with eachother to get further ahead into the game.
    Examples:
    - group quests where you actually have to group up to do the quests
    - difficult elites, where again you actually have to group up for to kill them
    - tagging mobs, where it would be better to just group up and kill the mobs to all receive a shot at some item, instead of just tagging it and everyone else. Yes I know it is a quality of life for SOME people. But it is not good for the overal health of the community.
    - having 10 man guilds. I know. You will curse at me for this comment. I know 10 mans are fun, geez. But is it good for the community? Would it not be better if we go back to 25? Or even 20 (no less) raidteams? The less the community is splintered the better for the community. Also the less guilds there are the less you have to compete to get recruits.
    - crossrealm dungeons
While it solves a problem it creates a major break in to the community. It solves the problem of dying servers. It instantly also makes the enjoyment of a dungeon far less. People can be assholes if they want to be, simply because you'll never see them again. This was LESS in the period where there was only serverwide dungeon-invite system.

    2. CRZ
Linked to the community tbh. You see people but they aren't real really. You have no chance still to bump into them at a later time unless (un)lucky. You cannot trade. You can /wave to them and treat them pretty much the same as the other faction.

    3. Flying
Yes beaten to death etc. I am not opposed to flight. But you have to be some sort of ignorant person to not see that if you have flying it takes away a small portion of sense of community. You won't help out a passing by player with some quest you have already completed or would be completing soonish and is in need of help. Simply because up in the sky you won't see them. I don't care that you are not and never will be interested in helping out another. But as this is an mmo, a lot of others who would, simply won't due to flight. And no one will ride a landmount if the flying one is available. It is not a matter of will power. It is a matter of efficiency. So less interaction right there.

    4. Teleporting to dungeons instantly
Same thing really. You get no pre-talk with players before the dungeons. Even a simple /w invite - might lead to addition conversation later on. It is simple psychiatry. I don't care if you never want to talk to another. A lot of others will do so if they have broken the ice earlier by any means. That you can speak up later does not mean that they will.

    5. dungeons being too fucking short
which in turn means that if you even want to talk to another tactics related or not... it simply be very short as before your sentence is written, the dungeon is over.

So.... since all these things still exist. The community will still decline. Only "solo" players will enjoy this game. Raiders will also but far less then in earlier expansion. Why? Well they don't solely raid do they? They also want to pug with pleasant people in dungeons or pugraids or whatever. But due to all the above, they will mostly only have a good time in their own guild. So those people that like to socialise and actually want to make friends still are handicapped to do so.

So yeah in short: Legion might have a lot of things to do. Might have the greatest leveling experience. But it still is a game that is a shell of its former self - community be damned. There is still 2 years of Legion to go for a full assesment

And please seriously shut up about "you don't have to fly if you don't want to - and no one is forcing you not to talk"- human nature guys... deal with various sorts of human nature. Maybe have some life experience and come back and read it again. Not everyone is like you or should be like you.
    1. Personal preferancies. I usualy do not like to play the game alone, so i group up with guildies/friends/some random people i met here and there.
    2. Made a game a lot better from my point of view. I remember at start of expansions tons of ppl everywhere literally killing everything in every thone. Now i can feel a world, it's creatures and so on.
    3. Flying is not a reason of someone being social or not.
    4. Most of my dungeons i did through enterring them manually. Do not think i need 810 ilvl to deal with heroics. But when you do them for daily rewards or just for fun, it is convenient feature.
    5. Too short? Did you even play the game? Or you want dungeons to be raid-long? Wait till 7.1. Kara will be there.

And you know many games that offer an entire month of content for $50? Wow is still a damn good game that offer you tons of content for the price you pay. I know that people like you want a full year as 60 hours/week content but no games offer that much! Maybe you prefer play any other $70 game + season pass and DLC... At least with Wow you pay for what you play. You dont want to play anymore or you dont have enough content you just unsub and that's it! But think again... $50 for all the content that Legion offer you is not bad and alot more that many $70 games that offer you a poor 6 hours campaign and nothing more!

Ton of content? It's an mmo, every quest is basically the same. And getting every quest done is like 20 hours. I'd gladly stay subbed if the game was as engaging as it was in the past but right now wow it's just an average aaa single player game with coop elements, worth playing to consume content but not worth anything beside that.

By the way, I bought it at 28€, legion isn't worth 50+ at all to me.

Because some of us have been around longer than wod, you can feel things and make judgements based on past experiences. I wasn't overly impressed with wod, though I did like shadowmoon a lot for starting out. Talador was ok too, the rest of the zones I liked a lot less. Wod literally felt like cata to me, and I still feel that way, potential but underwhelming. Mop, from start to finish reminded more more of wrath in quality and quantity and I was skeptical in the beginning because of cata. This on feels like wrath and mop with some bc and some of the good ideas of wod.

    1) community exists; there are shitheads everywhere, in every game, media outlet, and real life. I see plenty of cooperation and people asking for help and giving help. Helping each other without being grouped as well. Group finder is active for getting world quests done as well as just people grouping from general or from being in the area together. There was even a discussion in general calling out an asshat and generally people agreeing being a jerk is bad.
You seem like you aren't playing at all. There are literally all the things you are saying in the game, group quests, difficult elites, 20m mythic, and shared tagging encourages random helping of each other ... Legion areas are server based, not cross realm.

    2) just told you, no crz; the only ones you see are realm hoppers or people with actual friends.

    3) there is no flying yet, it will unlock later, and at that point they will most likely go the route of iot/iog/timeless I'd venture to guess.

    4) your assumption; over the last month or so I've been back, I've seen quite a few people starting conversations, and most at the very least are saying hi at the start, bye and ty at the end. Last night I literally formed a group in front of the entrance to dark heart thicket and we walked in.

    5) they already said they will have some longer dungeons too, Kara will be one of them. The dungeons have about 4-5 bosses each with the chance for extra bosses to spawn. 1-2 hour dungeons just aren't practical to have the majority of them to be that way; that sort of thing is more suited to a raid setting for the most part.

So, since you are clueless, you can think what you want and be happy. Community starts with you; you can whine about other people or be the change you want to see and befriend or even start guilds with like minded people who want to help and inspire the community.

Of course I play on 3 servers, stormrage alliance, area 52 horde, and durotan. The first two are full/locked, the last is low even though it is merged with ysera. Each have a community , good and bad people, good and bad guilds. Just like reality there is a mix of things, but if you are pessimistic you won't see the good and make threads like this that show how jaded and blind you are to what is around you.

Not everyone is as negative as you or should be. It's funny you ended it like that; really toxic and shows you don't believe any of the horse shit you spouted. Sounds like you need some life experience. If you are negative and pessimistic and avoid people, don't expect them to puss roses all over you, they won't waste their breath and give their kindness to others and let you reek with the other toxics. You can't be grumpy all the time and expect people to want to do anything with you; especially if you are saying you won't be social or help anyone else out because you are too lazy and want the path of least resistance. Hell I helped out a few guiltiest last night even though it took me out of the way, because that is how you do it ... Community and helpfulness, to guildies and random people you run into in the world. Or you can be a selfish, shut in asshat; your choice.

Ok, we get it. You don't like Legion and will unsub after one month. You dislike a lot of things with Legion we get it. Anything else you want to add? Or will you still be in this forum after you unsubbed to say how much you dislike Legion?

I been in the same guild for years and we do a lot things as a guild. So for me the game is social and fun.
You don't think so, which is your opinon. There is other games out there for you. May I suggest the newest Deus Ex?

I miss the good old days where we could be nostalgic about the last expansion and hate on all the new material blizzard gives us, if we show that we are satisfied they might stop!!!!!! your ruining the game!!!!!!!

Been playing Legion for 10 months (alpha, beta) and I'm still not bored.
This expantion is way better than WoD, in every way.
Don't see a single of your "points" as a negative. If you're not having fun, go play something else.

I get that this is just a "I pick on everything Blizzard does just to get attention" but you know what, OP? It's getting boring.

Oh and you still need 20 people to raid, I guess you're just not good enough to handle mythic.

Dunno, I remember not being happy at WoD start. Somehow it corellated with me not being able to fucking play the fucking game for six days, because my character was either stuck in garrison lag or was not able to kill anything because everything phased away the moment I was coming to it. And all that while pompous fucker developers were posting shit like in my signature in social media. "We're so happy people love our game!" "Oh look, people are passionate about our game, ohhh!" and all the idiocy like that. I think you're lying about being happy at wod lauch, unless you started playing after a month.

Oh, and on topic of your huge list: I am sorry, but in my opinion, you are bad, not the community. For some reason, me, for example, have a guild full of alive active people, have a huge list of in-game friends. I have no problems helping a complete stranger, and I regularly do that not only in game, but in real life as well. I actively speak with random people I meet in dungeons, and they usually gladly respond back. If you don't have all that, problem lies within you, and it is absurd to think that summoning stones, (no)flying or group quests will suddenly fix your communicating problems.

Also: complimenting developers for their good work is absolutely normal. From what I've seen, on beta and on live, Legion will be a good expansion, maybe even the best one, who knows?

I can understand why it is currently better after such a long period of nothing. I do. I am not blind. Quality may even be a lot better then WoD's at launch. It's a testament to the actual quality of Legion to see all these trolls and haters grasping at straws to somehow give a negative spin to an amazing expansion, in a way it's quite amusing to see. Just don't take them seriously and you'll be fine, they have their minds set on hating Blizzard or WoW and nothing will change that.

Take Legion for what it is right now, a solid expansion with a huge amount of content. Everything else we won't know untill we get there but it's laughable to assume everything else in Legion will be shit "cause Blizz" and in doing so ruin your own fun at this moment.
