It's a bullshit premise anyway, because in the vast majority of cases, you get criticized less for the content of what you said and more for your speaking style. Someone with enough skill can manage to pretty much put a nice spin on just about any position, whereas an awkward basement dweller will find ways to bungle even the most innocent of statements. If you look at Trump, people attack him mostly for the tone of his rhetoric not for the actual substance, which differs little from what the Republican party line has been since the Reagan era.

it will end once south park season 20 hits the video box, as a person who interacts with minorities of different backgrounds, being ultra pc usually just results in said people thinking you are a unrealistic, self righteous, douche.

Please its only getting national media attention because of white liberal guilt and because the redskins team is owned by a rich white guy. Its only an issue because it ties to race, specifically the evil rich white narrative and therefore is popular in the press.

And this of course is my opinion.

Actually he is attacked for both. Its the GOP that wants him to soften so more people would want to vote for him. But its also groups that generally dont overly vote REP anyway.

lol @ people saying political correctness does not exist. All the usual suspects too.

It is not possible to be more detached from reality.

That's not "PC." That's not a "fad." It's human decency, and more importantly, it's necessary. Lest you want the marginalized to revolt, take over, and repeat the whole damn cycle through perpetuity.

Also, you're a kid. My "day" precedes yours by like a decade, and while there were folks like you complaining about the "PC fad" even back then, there were others, people way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay smarter than you, who saw that NOT being a waste of oxygen was probably best for everyone.

No such thing as political correctness.

    http://www.vox.com/2015/1/28/7930845...s-doesnt-exist

But political correctness isn't a "creed" at all. Rather it's a sort of catch-all term we apply to people who ask for more sensitivity to a particular cause than we're willing to give — a way to dismiss issues as frivolous in order to justify ignoring them. Worse, the charge of "political correctness" is often used by those in a position of privilege to silence debates raised by marginalized people — to say that their concerns don't deserve to be voiced, much less addressed.
It's understandable that Chait, and the many others who agree with him, find it so upsetting to be on the receiving end of what he refers to as "P.C." criticism. These critiques basically accuse their targets of being oppressors, or perpetuating injustice, and that's a deeply hurtful accusation. Indeed, that kind of criticism hurts most if you are someone who cares about social justice, or do think that discrimination is harmful when it's implicit as well as when it's explicit.

But avoiding that discomfort by dismissing criticism as mere "political correctness" is no way to protect the marketplace of ideas whose fate so concerns Chait. At best, it replaces a relatively weak burden on free speech (Jonathan Chait has to listen to people scolding him on Twitter) with a similarly weak one (other people have to listen to Chait and his supporters scolding them for their "political correctness").

But the reality is that the burdens are not equal, because the arguments that get dismissed as mere "p.c." nonsense are overwhelmingly likely to be raised by people who are less privileged, and to concern issues that are outside the mainstream.

    It usually goes like this:

    - One feminazi on campus said something.
    - Dozens thousands reacted by whining on the Internet.
    - Bottom line? "PC is to blame!"

So, it is not even 90% vs 10%, more like 99.999% vs 0.001%, and those 99.999% tend to be even more thin-skinned than those other 0.001%.

Heck the media knows this and this is why the Media will now publish random as fuck articles from obscure feminist blogs or tumblr.... all those smexy smeexxy clicks/ad rev.

Heck Blizzard did it too with Overwatch.... the original "complaint" was a guy saying a pose didnt fit Tracer as a character, but instead would fit Widowmaker..... and look what happened there.... Blizzard is still trying to censor the porn.

No they actually don't. You just assume anyone who supports him is a "real racist" who would've gone KKK. And then you have the racist notion that this represents white people because his supporters are racists and a lot of them.

You're just plain dumb or lazy.

That's just the reality of modern world: weird, outrageous news is much more interesting to people than something standard. For example, I don't know, "Earthquake in India, hundreds dead" - people will just shrug, "Oh, well". But, say, "Anita Sarkeesian said that men should be sent to gas chambers" - aaaaaaaaaand, World War III has begun!

Actually, in desperate times, people tend to support the biggest demagogues and populists who give them false promises and hopes.

As opposed to supporting those who are just using you for a vote but have no intention of actually doing anything about your issues?

Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed - nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity - too bad for you -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Only a war or virus outbreak will stop this madness.

These people have too much time on their hands to think about how sad they are. So they want make everybody else around them as sad as they are
There is the sad paradox of a world which is more and more sensitive about being politically correct, almost to the point of ridicule, yet does not wish to acknowledge or to respect believers’ faith in God

Pretty much. These people who claim how horrible Western society is have never had any true hardships.

So all this PC might be a bit ooc in America. Where I am from we don't have "that much" of it. I'm not saying it is crazy here, but it seems to me, that a huge part of the society have lost "common sense" and replaced it with what the tv tells you.
Use your mind - does it make sense to talk about something in a specific way? If not, then why/ why not ? Feel free to think out of the box. Use your own mind, and don't just accept all nonsens.
All you need to keep in mind is, that you don't feel like you are disrespecting people- terms like redskins are offensive - just like calling someone blackskin or yellowskin. You just call someone by their skin color ?
Try to understand the terms you use, instead of just saying something. Be nice and respectful, then you don't have to think to much about being PC- it comes naturally, and without going over the top to PC-land
