[Fire] Which trinket should I use?

    Heya fellow mages,

I have the following trinkets and I have no clue, whatsoever, which trinket combination is best.

Maybe someone here can help a mage out?

    I have;

850 Caged Horror with 932 Mastery, 419 Avoidance and 185,081 proc damage

840 Eye of Skovald with 898 Crit, 1 socket and the proc (I'm guessing that this is a no-brainer

840 Bloom of new growth with 1123 int and 898 crit

835 (bonus upgrade) An'She's Infusion of light with 1073 int and 882 crit

Now, the Eye is probably first choice since it has loads of crit, a socket for more crit and a decent proc. I'm unsure about what my second choice should be though. The Caged Horror has loads of mastery, which isn't great but the proc is INSANE.

What would you guys do? Also, does anyone have a link to pre-raid BiS gear?

Thanks again for all your help!

Ignore Orb of Voidsight here. This is pre-nerf sims.

I have a socjeted 840 caged horror that has done pretty food for me. Sometimes it will pull 1m+ on bosses so its not terrible. Get a spiked tongue if you can because that things is beast

Orb of voidsight is getting reduced and cahed horror isnt on that sim.

It's an accurate list if you ignore the Orb. I would do some guesstimations to compare Caged Horror to similar mastery/dmg proc trinkets. I'm sure it's quite powerful, simply due to its 850 rating. Based on that sim, there are quite a few proc trinkets listed with high damage bonuses on the upper portion of the list that aren't crit, much less mastery (see Oakheart's Gnarled Root).

Aye, the second from the list is basically identical to the caged horror: mastery with a huge damage proc.

So basically the correct choice would be the void of insight with the caged horror. Interesting. Who would've thought i'd pass on a crit trinket :/

Nooo ignore the Orb of Voidsight (3rd time I'm saying this lol). It just got nerfed. Here's what's probably best based on our discussion:

850 Caged Horror with 932 Mastery, 419 Avoidance and 185,081 proc damage

840 Eye of Skovald with 898 Crit, 1 socket and the proc (I'm guessing that this is a no-brainer

Ah, sorry, I thought you meant ignore it, due to it being heirloom.

Okay, so the cage and eye. I'll give it a shot. thanks bro!

Caged Horror has an awful proc rate compared to the other dmg trinkets (0.85 rppm vs. 2rppm of oakhearts). It's pretty not great for single target.

I don't trust that list at all because I'm 100% certain it doesn't actually account for proper play to maximize trinket effectiveness given that none of the gameable trinkets are stronger than their effective stats averaged out (implying they're just being used like stat stick trinkets, aka 10% DPS tier gameplay).

In particular Infernal Writ is way below where it should be, and OOV was way stronger than just slightly better than the rest, it's still near the top even after the nerf, and still is #1 on Demon targets.

My question is, does this take into account item level? For example, prism is very far behind tongue, but is an 850 prism better than a 805 tongue? What about an 825? Etc.

It's definitely Eye and Bloom. I actually have these exact 4 trinkets myself and simmed it yesterday. My eye was only 825 (no socket) and my bloom only 830 and they were still better.

You'd have to sim it yourself to figure out the exact answer. That list in the screenshot assumes equal i-lvl on all trinkets. As far as prism goes, in general it's very bad for fire, since you can't really overlap it well with combustion. I know my 845 prism is worse than my 825 eye.

You also have to factor in the amount of targets. Mastery is in many cases your worst secondary for single target but rapidly climbs up the list as more are apart of the fight and the longer they are alive. In short this list is different for all of us and also based on the fight itself.

I understand you have to sim yourself, i was just saying there should be an approximation list. For example i have an 845 figurehead, but if an 825 oakhearts dropped, i would have a tough time deciding, as im sure the ilvls make up for the 10k dps difference in equal ilvl trinkets.

it does not do "waaaay" more damage. it does about 44%? more damage, which is nowhere near enough to make up for oakhearts having over double the proc rate.
