After crash-landing on an distant planet, build a colony with your friends, battle others and explore the system prospecting for immeasurable riches. Discover, fight, and tame indigenous alien creatures or search for lost human expeditions as you survive the far reaches of space.

The year is 2046 and mankind’s discovery of near-lightspeed "fold engine" propulsion has empowered mankind's Osiris expeditionary missions to the Gliese 581 system. You are the second colonization team sent by the U.N.E. (United Nations of Earth) to study potential habitable planets when your spacecraft malfunctions braking from light speed, forcing an emergency landing on the planet’s surface.

Overcome the dangers of an environment with ever-changing weather conditions by building a central base, expanding the structure further with modular units to grow food, create research centers, manufacturing bays and more. To further advance technologies and thrive on the planet, traverse into a world filled equally with alien beauty and terrors that will freeze your blood. Osiris is a beautiful game that uniquely combines inventive crafting, curious exploration, and skillful FPS combat gameplay that highlights the beauty and horror of exploring a foreign, yet gorgeous alien system - an experience that's neither safe nor for the timid.

    Features:
    - Multiplayer Colonization: Work together with online players to build a prospering colony and together defend against threatening alien species, survive environmental phenomenon including meteor showers, and attacks from other online player colonies.
    - Survive, Craft, Research and Thrive: Gather resources and materials to adapt to the alien system, build modular structures to grow food and create manufacturing bays, research new technologies to upgrade gear and build new vehicles and droids, and explore the environment to discover new resources and secrets to expand and thrive in this brave alien world.
    - Explore The Planet And Beyond: Learn what wonders and horrors lie on the alien planet and explore underground dungeons for unique potential discoveries. In time, build spacecraft to launch into space and travel to other planets in the solar system.
    - Prepare for a Fight: Choose first or third person controls as you hunt intelligent alien species with predatory instincts. Equip a variety of weapons to ensure you are prepared for any situation.
    - Light-Year Visual Difference: Experience the high graphic quality typically only found in AAA games. Osiris: New Dawn offers high attention to texture detail and High Dynamic Range lighting creating a frightening gorgeous world. An advanced IK (inverse kinematics) system powers over 200 amazing fluid player movements and a diverse range of terrifying alien creature animations.

The game seems to have great quality. In the future devs want to add more planets, much more content etc.

So what this is like, No Mans Sky 2?

Many people say that this is what they expected from No Man's Sky and how No Man's Sky should've been and I fully agree.
"this game can and could be where "No Man's Sky" failed... "
"The game No Man's Sky could have been...the game it should have been."
"A mix between Ark: survival evolved, subnautica, rust and space engineers"
"Overall - 9/10. ARK:Srrvival Evolved in SF version. At least, it looks way better than No Man's Sky."
"if you feel like you've been burned by NMS, do yourself a favor and pick this game up, you won't be disappointed!"

This game looks much better, has better atmosphere, better graphic, better optimization (one guy said "60fps @Geforce 760") and better content/gameplay.
It's more like ARK: Survival Evolved - Space Edition

Looks kinda neat actually. Might give it a whirl.

I'll look around anyway, but any idea if there's server software for private hosting?

Might give it a look, still kinda bummed on how bad NMS worked out to be (thank god i didnt buy it)
Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

I would hold off for a while though. It´s still a bit early feeling and the main gripe I have with it right now, is that most public servers are cluttered around the spawn point and they claim huge areas around their habitat, forcing you to walk and explore until you find a place with most hardcore necessary ores to get you going. Typically, to make steel, which you use for everything besides the most basic stuff, you need one of the rarest resources. Most of those spots seem to have been claimed already.

What, *another* space surival game? Is this like the new ''pixel platformer'' ?

Oh look, the game that NMS should have been. This game already looks better just by the trailer alone.

    Haven't we been here before?
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Downloaded the game last night, only played for an hour or so but still had a lot of fun with it. Night time it feels like you're constantly being attacked by the Riddick monsters.

The game is still buggy, you are only allowed to play a single class, multiplayer is laggy and content is still being released so just keep that in mind. The developer is doing a good job at patching in content and fixing bugs.

I have the day off tomorrow so i'll be able to actually play it more.

We have. But the trailer alone shows more stuff to do than all of NMS combined. And that's pretty sad considering this is a trailer for early access/alpha version of the game. Just goes to show how shallow and boring NMS really is.

But then again, when I first read about NMS I thought it was really ''ambitious'' for a developer with no history, so personally I was a bit of a skeptic since the start (good thing I didn't buy it)

The same can be said about this one by just looking at the wiki page

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osiris:_New_Dawn

Osiris: New Dawn was developed by Fenix Fire Entertainment, a two-man team
Their is a desire from gamers to play a game that takes the massive exploration aspect of Star Trek and the action of Star Wars and put it in a single world. A game like this takes time, people and allot of money which just isn't something you can do with a small team.

The silly part is, aside from roaming around in space and encountering the occasional comet, neither Star Wars nor Star Trek has ever explored more than 1% of any given planets they've ever been to. The "full worlds" we see now are the result of decades of lore development through video games, comic books, novels, toys and other movies.

That's why stuff like books and movies usually doesn't do a direct translation because their are stuff that don't translate well (and visa versa)

In Warcraft they changed the Orcs to make them more ''friendly'' instead of having them being genocidal maniacs.
They made the animus in the AC movie huge instead of having a simple ''bed'' .

Blizzard is probably the only developer that could do this, you need a perfectionist and somebody that has experience creating zones with different feelings to it.

Uh, no. I'm pointing out that what people want: "well crafted infinity" is impossible. Even Tatooine, a planet known for having exceptionally little on it is not fully written out. People are asking, and companies are promising for the literally impossible. Content that is both infinite and non-repetitive, but at the same time well-crafted and creative. It's completely contrary.
