why do you sell whispered pact flask 2k?

    x7 starlight = 200g each = 1400g

    x10 fjarn = 100g each = 1000

x10 dreamleaf = cant remember but its already unprofitable

Do you have a proc where you get an extra flask? does the recipe create more flasks or one? i dont really understand.

idk about your server but the flasks and herbs have been going down on mine... starlight is down to 120 ea and the other herbs are about 30-80 depending which one

Yeah, flasks/pots aren't really worth making anymore unless you get lots of procs. Basically the 3star recipe for flasks(or any alchemy thing) gives you a chance to proc up to 19 extra of that item(averages out to about 50% more produced, usually)

The flask and potions can proc when the alchemist doing them has rank 3 with them. The proc vary from x2 to x16 (highest I have seen yet, but could be higher).
That means that selling the herbs is almost never worth more than selling the flasks. They still sell for 2.5k-3k after the reset on tuesday and wednesday.

Basic rule - rich getting richer and poor-...
I've made 600+ flasks and didn't get rank 3. So I have to compete with ppl with r3 who got their recipe faster than me. I lose roughly 1-1.5k each craft. There is no point crafting flasks anymore. Atleast until 7.1.

You can trade blood of sargeras for mats.

Same issue on my EU connected realm... flasks started to go down in price since more people got rank 3, while herbs stand up at the prices written by the OP. Best case scenario, if I buy the herbs I only break even. I only craft the falsks, even when loosing money, to have a chance at proccing rank 3, else I would just sell the herb and buy the flasks (finished product).

I pick my mats myself so I'm not too concerned about what I sell the flasks for. I'd be better off selling the herbs as is but I made 60-70k this week anyways so might as well craft away hoping to proc a rank 3.

If you collect your own mats the overhead on mats = time, not money. If you collect your own mats you can sell the potion at lower cost and still make 100% profit. Moral to the story, collect your own mats for the stuff you make especially if time isn't an issue for you.

I sell them at that price because people will buy them, simple

Except if the mats are more valuable than the finished product because you don't have rank 3, you get more gold selling the mats you gathered rather than crafting the flask. It's an opportunity cost to make and sell the flask:

    - I can make more gold by selling the mats.
    - I can chance a rank 3 proc by crafting and selling the flask, for less gold.

I harvest my own herbs as well, and if it wasn't for the rank 3 proc chance (long term profitability), I'd just sell the herbs if people are going to sell below cost. More gold for me with the same effort.

if you are lucky with procs you can make profit, and if you farm the materials while skill alchemy, some people might just sell the left overs

No!!!! Ahhhhh!! Yes mats = money!!! Nothing is free. This is part of the reason why the economy tanked in WoD -- people thought their Garrison's churned out "free" mats.

If the value of the mats are 1000 gold, but you sell an item crafted from the mats for 800 gold. You're losing 200 gold -- and time.

For my realm... (Oddly, FoxFlower has been really easy to farm large amounts of it for me. I'm getting a fox spawn every 2 or 3 nodes, netting my almost 40-50 herbs a node when it procs.)

    These are per individual herb.
    Yseralline Seed--7G
    Aethril--9G
    Dreamleaf--20G
    Foxflower--85G
    Fjarnskaggl--94G
    Starlight Rose--121G
    Felwort--524G

This has been the case on my realm as well. The Crafting Materials are worth waaaay more than anything they can make.

As a Scribe, I need 400-500 herbs to get the pigments needed to make a single glyph. But the glyph will only sell for around 600-1200 Gold... Where the herbs needed can be worth up to 14Kgold.

Selling for 2k doesn't mean you profited 2k. Selling crafted items for less than the raw material is worth is ALWAYS a loss.

this is bullshit and a fail and not understanding the economy.

more bullshit failure of not understand the economy, the second you collect the herbs they have a value the OP posted, that is the amount you could sell them for RIGHT NOW on the AH(varies by server) they cost you 0g, but does not mean they are 0g, you must find the value of the 27 herbs on your server, and now you have their value, is that more than the 2k the flask sells for? if their value adds up to say 2600g, you're losing 600g gold by crafting that flask because your herbs current value is 2600g. THAT'S ECONOMY!

once again farming items yourself makes them free to get, but they are not worthless since they have a value!
