    Gtx 1060 - 3gb or 6gb?

I am going to buy a new pc soon with a gtx 1060, and was wondering if there would be any noticable / serious difference between the 3gb and 6gb versions. I play Wow and Diablo 3 almost exclusively, which are not very graphically demanding games as far as I'm aware. I'd like to get good performance at 1920x1080 in most circumstances. Of course Wow is very CPU heavy and notoriously badly optimized, but this is only about the influence of the GPU. In case it makes a difference, I am not a mythic raider and will mostly do LFR, (mythic) 5 man content and open wotld stuff.

The 6GB one is a bit faster - not because of the memory capacity, but because it has more of the GPU unlocked.

That difference is pretty small and a 1060 can handle more FPS than the best CPU's in the world can deliver at the times where performance is at its worst (lots of players, raiding etc)

Thanks for the info! If I understand you correctly, either version would be fine along with an i5-6500,16GB RAM and a 240GB SSD for what I'll use it for, or have I missed anything there?

3gb is the much better deal, and for the games you listed would be considered way overkill.

This is the best price/cooler design right now for a 3gig model:

Yes the system you listed would be fine, but i would also consider this SSD its not much more money than a 240 and its from one of the top SSD manufacturers:

They should be two completely different SKUs.. it should be called a GTX 1050 Ti but NVidia are a bunch of manipulative schemers.
Umm why are they manipulative? The 1060 3gb is 50 dollars less and is only around ~3-5% slower than the 6gb model on average, who cares what they called it its a great deal?

Someone is going to buy the 3GB of this card and assume they're going to get the performance of the 6GB card - Nvidia knows this and will capitalize and the ignorance of their customer base.

Also, the GTX 1060 3GB, while it is good price to performance, is not the best. It's on par with the RX 470 interms of price/performance, but the GTX 1060 6GB is still king of the price to performance realm.

Dude, no one would buy the 1060 6gb if the 3gb model had the exact same GPU. You do realize this correct? For the money, at 1080p gaming the 3gb is by FAR the better deal. In fact, i dont think the 1060 6gb should exist most people should buy the 3gb model. If you are looking at 1440p gaming you should probably just go with a 1070.

Also there is no way in hell that chart is correct. A 1060 6gb is 20% more expensive than a 3gb model, i know for a fact its not on average 20% faster in games. Fail chart is fail. So no, the 1060 6gb is not the "king" of price/performance, the 3gb model undoubtedly holds that crown.

Edit: The reason that chart lists the 1060 6gb as having more price/performance is because they are reviewing one of the most expensive 3gb models, which you SHOULD NOT BUY. If that review was of the 1060 model i linked above that costs 204 dollars that chart would show WAY different results.

Dude your not getting it, the card they reviewed retails for 235 dollars, NO ONE SHOULD BUY THAT CARD. You should buy cards for 200 bucks like the one i linked, then you will see the price/peformance chart favor the 3gb card GREATLY.

These are the 1060 3gb cards people should be buying:

    http://pcpartpicker.com/product/4Np3...tx-1060-3gt-oc
    http://pcpartpicker.com/product/7bL7...n1060wf2oc-3gd

These cards are all 205 and under, and represent much better value than any 1060 6gb.

And are you serious with this line:
I say that it's manipulative because it is. The difference between the 1060 3GB and 6GB is there.
OF COURSE THERE IS A DIFFERENCE ITS A DIFFERENT GPU, the card is 20% cheaper than the 1060 6gb and as your review shows is only around 6% slower, what about that can your brain not comprehend?
